  1. So, when nine innings are played and your team has more runs than the other team --- what is that called again? Rare.
  2. The neighbor should uproot the tree and put in a hockey rink.
  3. Memphis and Louisville aren't. AAA teams located on the same interstate highway as the parent club? Memphis and St. Louis are both on I-55, Columbus and Cleveland are both on 271. Not certain about the others.
  4. Brooklyn boy!
  5. Floyd and Castillo?
  6. The Gee-Harvey spot in the rotation kicked some Schaefer ass, even if neither pitcher was in the running on his own.
  7. Think nothing of it. The Mets keep winnin', I keep startin'.

  10. Adam Rubin says Baxter likely to return today, with Niewy shuffling off to Buffalo to make room. 10:15 start. ThdCEVhOPvM
  11. ...and with two outs, Murph dumps a double into left to drive in a run. Very first-halfy.
  12. Hot damn. Just turned the game on...timely hitting and only one hit off Dickey so far? Looks like old times.
  13. Let's get these bastages and go to SF with a split. R. Tejada, SS D. Murphy, 2B D. Wright, 3B S. Hairston, RF I. Davis, 1B J. Bay, LF A. Torres, CF J. Thole, C R. Dickey, P S. Drew, SS W. Whoa, there, Z...you were around in September 2007, right? This run doesn't even come close. This was always going to be a year to rebuild. It sucks to lose, but 47-50 is still a lot better than I would have expected at this point in the season.

  16. Havana. They hate the Yanquis even more than we do. Fidel isn't going to be around forever. No better time than the present to start engaging with Cuba. San Juan. I'm doubling down on the Caribbean. Easy travel, natural fan base, economies that could use a boost outside the tourist season.
  17. Ike's ohfer last night puts him back on I-97. This ridiculously dinky interstate was used regularly by an old college buddy of mine when he commuted from his home in the DC exurbs of Maryland to a job in Annapolis. That's about the full length of the highway. If any of you DC people see him, could you tell him that he's needed at Dodger Stadium this weekend?

I don't know whether this shows that (a) pitchers are more valuable than position players, ( WAR is biased towards pitchers, or © the Mets have historically pitched, caught, and thrown better than they've hit. 21. Damn. That ruins his HOF chances, doesn't it?
  22. batmagadanleadoff wrote: Posting on the road from my smartphome ... what a pain in the ass. Dickey's game score last night -96. RA is 1st pitcher in live ball era with consecutive game scores of 95 or more. I think that ties him with Capuano's two-hitter last year and the Seaver-Qualls game for the highest Met game score ever.
  23. ss: Toughy --- Tony Fernandez, Gary Templeton, Roy McMillan, and Jim Fregosi all have cases. Going over to BBref and looking at the stats, it looks like Fregosi hands down. On the other hand, I remember only Fregosi's Met years, so I reflexively think "suck" when I hear Jim Fregosi's name.
  24. 1b: Carlos Delgado Eddie Murray? rf: Um... Rusty Staub? Shawn Green, perhaps. Without thinking about it too much, I'd call it a tossup.
  25. They did indeed. The guy who I thought was the right answer was this guy: From here on in, I'll leave trivia to the guys with a lot more than 1000 posts.
