  1. Building the system from the ground up may have hit a snag. The Binghamton AA team, where the organization displays its most promising prospects, has been no- hit twice in the last week. And it has been suffering in the same offensive doldrums as the big club. Just sayin'. Later
  2. Well, you can’t lose ‘em all. later
  3. An old saying says "things happen in threes" so I'm guessing another shoe will drop shortly. Later
  4. Y'mean Dembroski now has the opportunity to fire both the father and son on the same day? That might be a record. Later
  5. He's one of those (rare ?) dudes who has a higher BA in the majors .(250 over 2 years) than he has in the minors (.247 over 9 seasons). Some power , too. It will be interesting to see how, and at what position, he will be used. Later
  6. Ewing, was promoted to Triple-A on Monday after tearing up Double-A Binghamton. In 81 plate appearances over 18 games for Binghamton this season, Ewing slashed .349/.481/.571 (1.053 OPS) with two homers, six doubles, one triple, and 12 stolen bases. Later
  7. There's an old sports adage that says, "defense wins games, offense puts fannies in the seats". If that is true, people are going to be staying away in droves. It will make Grants Tomb look like Grand Central Station (the other one) And ownership will take action. Later
  8. Not their fault, but extremely similar- a lot of money spent, not popular in most of the country, and no positive results. funny. later
  9. Not only do you get kudos for the information, but also for fighting your way through what spell-check tried to do with those names. Later
  10. A couple of other slowness expressions. IIRC Tim McCarver said a player was so slow, you could time him with a sun dial, and Comedian Ron White used the term "slower than the speed of smell". Later
  11. Looking at Seawolf's list reminds me that stealing bases wasn't the only thing Al Moran wasn't good it. I can't imagine how he got on base enough times to have that many steal attempts. Later
  12. I see Binghamton play at Hartford (the Rockies' AA farm team) every year, and I still don't recognize any of those names. Great IGT/KTE, FK. Later
  13. IIRC it is fully at the discretion of the official scorer. But I think you're right. They generally give it to the "adjacent" pitcher. Later
  14. Nice job, Brock. it’ll be interesting to see how it changes as the year progresses. later
  15. For jets fans, tonight is our once-a- year day , to be followed by 12 months of disappointment. As a Mets fan I at least had 1986, but jets fans have had umgots since 1969. Please let us enjoy it if we wish. later
  16. Do a "Bill Veeck" - put the entire team on waivers and see which players get claimed/ are wanted by other clubs. Then, try to make a deal. Later
  17. I've changed my opinion from "I'm not optimistic" to "they look like they'll never win another effing game." Later
  18. That TBD guy treats the Mets the way Ray Culp did. All he has to do is walk out onto the mound and the Mets roll over. Later
  19. My IGT mojo stopped last year. later
  20. I wish you'd have spent more time discussing the position players in the minors who might help this year. Of , wait. There aren't any ( maybe Nick Morabito at AAA). And offense is their biggest problem. Later
  21. His current line is: .179 .246 .286 .532 So I'm not sure whether his going on the IL is good news or bad news. Later
