  1. Do you think you could get the Tigers to use the squirrels with the school name on a fan give-away night? (maybe first 5,000 fans) They could pick up the cost. Worth a try. Later
  2. Backup catcher is one of the positions for which there is a ready- made replacement in Syracuse. Chris Morel is a 27 year old journeyman catcher who has accumulated enough time in the majors to have hit about 75 homers (with a .220 average). Sounds like he could replace Torrens pretty easily. (except for maybe the beloved part) Later
  3. One of the signs on the outfield wall is an ad for the university that is the employer of one of our members - marshmallow milkshake. Later
  4. Also- during the HOF weekend, neponouncer joe buck was awarded the ford frick (whether someone else should have won it is fodder for another post) award. but in his acceptance speech, he said, “im the luckiest person on the face of the earth”. It was intentional plagiarism, and he took it from one of the most beloved players in history. That would be like if the pedo- pres said, “ I have a dream”. i dislike him even more. later
  5. Is Taylor playing to get traded or playing to stay? Either way, he’s been en fuego. later
  6. His ceiling looks like a prime comforto (25-75-.285) but it could go higher- he’s still learning what he can do. later
  7. If they can’t drive lindor in from third base, he’ll just do it himself. later
  8. I saw some rumors a few minutes ago saying Alvarez and or Torrens may be on the block (of course unsubstantiated with no mention of return). Later
  9. Sadly true. Even future Spanish speaking fans, who are familiar with multiple last names, won't know which last name he played under. Later
  10. A chance to pitch against this Mets team could bring players out of retirement. Later
  11. What a coincidence! I keep that book by my bed for quick reference. You never know when a question will come up about Idahoan ballplayers. Later
  12. I saw ion the box score that one Phillie had a stolen base. Was it late in the game to rub it in or earlier in the game? later
  13. Who can forget South Dakotan Kelvin Torve? (Or remember him) Later
  14. Mauricio is solidifying his position as a prime trade chip. His AAA numbers could make another team think there's still some untapped potential there. I would prefer they keep him, but until a decision is made, let him show off his power. LAter
  15. Juan Soto has been placed on the IL with a left calf strain. FWIW, Earlier this year, he was on the IL with a right calf strain. OE: I posted this before a separate thread was started, Later
  16. If some team thinks that a player the Mets are willing to trade will put them over the top, then why not ask for top talent from that team? Its their evaluation, not just ours. Later
  17. Where is FFF playing? I read an article that before this series they were thinking of playing him in RF but he played first base last night. Can those old legs play the outfield? Later
  18. He played the sidekick Pancho in the old Cisco Kid TV ser..... Oh, wait! Never mind. Later
  19. Fellow Montanan - Ed Bouchee Later
  20. John gibbons montana
  21. Clutch varies from year to year and player to player, but choke is a gut punch. And we've felt the Mets choke, even without knowing the numbers. Good analysis Later
  22. Carlton willey was from Maine Later
  23. Craig Anderson was from DC Later
  24. With all the discussion about defense, Lets not forget that two solo home runs are the only runs the offense has generated. Later
