  1. a nice clean win for the mets, devoid of their usual late inning screwups followed by heroics (or vice versa) goodnight.
  2. dont let him go. yankee fans deserve to suffer.
  3. delgado 2 wright 1.5 beltran 1 loduca 1 floyd 1 maine 1.5 feliciano .25 bradford .25 heilman 1 wagner .5
  4. Jeter vs. Jordan is a conversation that should be laughed off the air. Jeter isn't even worth mentioning in a discussion of all-time baseball greats. That same discussion in basketball starts with Jordan. Jordan, in my opinion, is on a level that maybe only Babe Ruth has ever reached. as for postponing the game i feel they made the right call. sure the fans were pissed that they had to sit there all night but the last thing any real baseball fan wants to see is mussina and verlander waste themselves in 3 innings tonight and see two clowns (lidle and ??) go at it tommorow. Don't start a playoff game that you arent >50% likely to finish IMO.
  5. great great game, i just got home (no i wasnt there.) this was a huge win for the Mets behind the bullpen. i thought Randolph should have pinch-hit for Mota, the Mets have too many pitchers on the roster anyway theres no reason to care about wasting one there. it was well-managed and well-played otherwise. where is cleon "doom and gloom" jones? are the dodgers still winning it in 4?
  6. ]I don't think it's fair to say Wright won on performance in the last week of the season It is pure fact. Beltran led with a week to go and didnt play the last week. Wright certainly stayed close the whole way, but he WON it on the last week.
  7. you guys know i'm the biggest Wright supporter out there, but I think we've just found a huge flaw in the system here, Beltran was clearly the best player on the Mets this year. if you want to call the MVP the guy with the best numbers, its Beltran. if you want to say the MVP is the guy who did the most when it mattered i think thats Beltran too. the last week of the season (when wright took over) was MEANINGLESS, Beltran did the team as much good sitting on the bench getting himself rested as he would have in the lineup.
  8. congratulations to Abogdan! we had a pretty good first year with more owners than i expected remaining active late into the season. we'll wait until the post-season ends to discuss next year.
  9. Beltran 10 Wright 9 Reyes 8 Delgado 7 Glavine 6 Loduca 5 Valentin 4 Wagner 3 Martinez 2 Sanchez 1 i "weighed" this (in my head, i didnt use formulas or anything) more towards those who contributed in April/May/June and away from those who had a big August/September when the playoffs were all but wrapped up. edit- i cant spell
  10. i'd personally like to avoid Roger Clemens, Roy Oswalt, and Andy Pettite. the Astros have the scariest, if not the best, rotation among NL contenders
  11. Torre SHOULD get in when he retires as a manager. none of these other guys belong in and the hall is just too watered down as is.
  12. ]I've got high holy days and then there's that pesky little job. thats 3 days right there that you arent allowed to shave anyway, you've got a great head start! who cares what work thinks? i've used the Omer excuse for not shaving in the past.
  13. NYGAMEUSED wrote: ="SteveJRogers"]BTW, the Mets used to have an actual Game Used kiosk on the Field Level at Shea. I wonder if they still sell such memorabillia at the Team Store Steven the do have a Kiosk there controlled by Steiner where you will pay top dollar for the items. and these are the items they couldnt sell there. lol
  14. i've gotten pretty lazy and not voted in a month or so, i guess i just got tired of it, i havent watched all 9 innings of a game in about 3 weeks now, i guess i'm just bored and wishing there had actually been a race in september, or even august.
  15. SteveJRogers: the king of useless/premature/otherwise annoying threads.
  16. i think its as much of a rule as things like "don't make the last out at 3rd base" or "throw strikes when you're winning big."
  17. i drafted uggla in another league and traded him for Mr. April- Wandy Rodriguez.
  18. ]Priorities for the off-season look like (1) secondbase, (2) starter, (3) outfielder. I'd put (3) ahead of two, get some righthanded-batting reserve badass that can platoon with Chavez if Milledge doesn't perform. But I imagine the Mets will make pitching a high priority. i'd say Starter goes first. this team can hit well already, but i'm worried about the rotation going forward unless Pelfrey steps up big time next year.
  19. i'd be very unhappy to see the league size shrink. depth is FUN. as far as 7x7 i think its easier to REPLACE batting avg with OBP and HRs with SLG and to use W-L instead of W than it is to go 7x7 (while we're at it we could turn saves into SV-BS and SB to SB-CS as well) or we could try a points league. i did a league that used Total Bases one year insteda of something, that wasn't a terrible idea either. smg is right about stockpiling starters, i suggested a maximum innings but people disagreed. W-L would help that but i think it would also disincentive taking good pitchers on bad teams which is not something i'd want to see. perhaps replacing Ks with K/9 would do a better job of stopping people from stockpiling bad starters without penalizing good pitchers on bad teams so much for me keeping my mouth shut till the offseason, its 4am and i'm bored.
  20. i'm going to reserve further comment on rules on my part until the offseason, we'll be plenty bored between the world series parade and pitchers & catchers.
  21. theres no point in having 2 leagues, i LIKE having a deep league in which the mediocre players who would languish on the free agent list are useful. maybe some people think its fun to choose between tom glavine and john lackey in your rotation, but you can do that in a yahoo public league. a large league (which dont exist publicly) makes you choose between john maine and pat maholm, and i like that. i personally really dislike H2H for baseball, but we'll take a poll of participants again next year and we'll see.
  22. ]you really should get something extra for a no-no in fantasy scoring. I never set a league up myself- is there an option for using the catagory : no-hitters? that might work in a point league or H2H league, but in a rotisserie league having such a narrow category (the "winner" of the category would get 17 points for his 1 no-hitter while the other 16 teams would all get "8" with 0 no-hitters) would be very stupid. perhaps we'll look into a points league next year for variety if people are up for it. i would guess, though i havent checked, that yahoo isnt foolish enough to make that a category choice in rotisserie leagues. they may or may not have it as a choice in other leagues where it would make more sense. i'd be against it either way, even in a points league, as i feel it is too narrow and not even a meaningful category just an indication of luck (see Burnett's non-no in which he walked NINE batters.) if we did have a points league next year i wouldn't mind giving pitchers a bonus for a shutout.
  23. that has to be the worst sports injury ever.
  24. Perez 6 Reyes 1 Woodward 1 Chavez .5 Green .5 Franco .5 Beltran .5
