  1. and yet i still feel far more confident in Benson to start game 3 than Hernandez or Maine. it should also be pointed out that Benson is pitching in the AL and in Camden Yards. I'd undo this trade in a second.
  2. the yankees seem to have jerseys and hats in every color and its annoying...especially the blue ones (Mets0 and the red ones (Red Sox), how could a "fan' ever wear those?
  3. ]The contract provides for a $1.5 million signing bonus, salaries of $1 million next year, $5 million in 2008, $7.5 million in 2009, $10 million in 2010, $14 million in 2011 and $15 million in 2012. the first four years of this deal are pretty much exactly what i advocated inb the other thread, but now there are 2 more years at a fair rate added on that would have been free agency, this is a great deal.
  4. thank god he isn't coming here. he might be the most "washed up" pitcher in baseball (that is, the guy who is most in need of retirement.)
  5. or perhaps his early-season slump would never have ended if he'd been thrust into every-day duty sooner. we'll never know and considering our division lead we won't have to worry about or regret the answer, just hope he's still hitting in october.
  6. Maine 3.5 Reyes 3 LoDuca 1 Wright 1 Milledge 1 Valentin .5
  7. Glavine 3 Chavez 2.5 Wright 2.5 Milledge 1 Heilman .5 Reyes .5
  8. OHernandez 2 Reyes 2 LoDuca 1 Beltran 1 Delgado 1
  9. Chavez says: Xavier who?
  10. exactly what i needed, though i fear that the "met history" thing may not help for my purposes since times have changed alot, i'd still be happy to see the data though.
  11. a pretty nice sample size to be sure, thank you.
  12. i'm wondering if theres anywhere i can find the win percentage for starters based on innings/runs? for example: 6 innings, 3 runs, 50% win, 32% loss, 18% no decision 7 innings, 0 runs, 90% win, 0% loss, 10% no decision etc. any thoughts?
  13. Martinez 4.5 Wright 1 Valentin 1 Franco 1.25 Reyes 1.25 RHernandez 1
  14. Frayed Knot wrote: I like archived threads where I still agree with everything I said 9 months later. Some of us might be better off if the archives went away but i still stand by everything i said in that thread, he showed the improvement i asked for (no matter how unlikely i thought it was) so he got the contract.
  15. Wright has one more year of making shit, then 3 years of arbitration, then free agency, right? arbitartion isn't an automatic big $$ the first year i don't think, so wright's salaries could look something like this: 2007: $350k 2008: $4mil 2009: $9mil 2010: $15mil thats 28+mil over 4, if the mets were to offer him the security of a 4 year deal at say 22 million over 4 does he reject it? its millions sooner than he'd otherwise see millions and security now. it saves the mets a few million and gives them cost predictability. it doesnt take away even the first year of wright's free agency, so he's got nothing lost there.

We'll sneak LoDuca into a PADRES 33 jersey and stick him in the visiting clubhouse, and stick the Mr. Met head on Piazza and sneak him out the back door. eh..a better idea would be to stick Trachsel in a Padres Jersey and steal Peavy.
  17. Reyes 2 LoDuca 2 Beltran 1.5 Delgado 1 Chavez 1 Floyd .5 Heilman 1 Wagner 1
  18. ="Yancy Street Gang"] And please remember, if anyone decides that they want to throw Roberto Hernandez a bone, it's RHernandez. Thanks! And remember, no comments in the voting thread! haha!
  19. Beltran 2 Reyes 1.5 LoDuca 1.5 Pelfrey 1 Bradford 1 Heilman 1 Delgado 1
  20. ]Wright's a year behind Reyes in service time and isn't even eligible for arbitration until the end of '07. His deal may still be a year off. true. but i'd give it to him now if its nearly as low as Reyes' deal.
  21. Elster88 wrote: I don't think it will affect negotiations with Wright that much. well, it "affects them" only to the extent that Wright is a better player and should expect to get more than Reyes got, so if Reyes had gotten overpaid it would have meant that Wright would get even more overpaid, or at least i think so.
  22. ] I don't consider this deal to be "big bucks", this deal makes alot of sense for the Mets. ] Me neither, but it's enough to label as such if Reyes regresses and makes the Mets look foolish. i think it would be very hard to make the mets look bad with his contract. how much did they pay Ordonez to be hte worst everyday player ever?
  23. i don't consider this deal to be "big bucks", this deal makes alot of sense for the Mets.
  24. Edgy DC wrote: I think Wagner's done fine. He hasn't been 'good' or 'great' but yeah, i think 'fine' describes the job he's done. he hasn't reminded anyone of Rivera circa 1996 or Gagne circa 2004 but he also hasn't reminded me of Looper '05. Hopefully, he'll get the job done in October. At which point nobody will care that he blew some saves in meaningless regular season games. ]Does anyone think that once the season is over, we'll star seeing stories about how Wagner's finger was never fully healed? It is possible, but that won't change my opinion about him at all (not that I have a negative feeling to begin with.)
  25. mine are pretty darn close to the overall rankings, you have to go down to chavez (14-16) to find a guy who is 2 spots off and to milledge (21-24) to find a guy who is 3 spots off. if i was picking the Mets MVP today it would be Beltran despite the lead Wright has on my list. If i were re-ordering the list by what i "feel" instead of the numbers i'd have to drop Nady and Oliver a few spots each and probably raise Bradford some more as well as flip-flopping 1 and 2. my top 25 through the end of july (their place on the main list is in parenthesis) 1. Wright (2) 2. Beltran (1) 3. Delgado (3) 4. Reyes (4) 5. Glavine (5) 6. Martinez (6) 7. Nady (7) 8. Valentin (8) 9. LoDuca (9) 10. Floyd (11) 11. Trachsel (10) 12. O.Hernandez (12) 13. Sanchez (13) 14. Chavez (16) 15. Oliver (15) 16. Wagner (14) 17. Soler (18) 18. Heilman (17) 19. Bradford (19) 20. Maine (20) 21. Milledge (24) 22. Bannister (22) 23. Feliciano (21) 24. Woodward (23) 25. Franco (26) on edit- 34 players have gotten at least some fraction of a point from me this season, the 4 who are on the main list but got nothing from me are the bottom 4 on the main list, all of whom were i believe given unearned pity points originally
