    Oliver!

i can think of bigger things to complain about, though certainly i'd have loved to see some ROYs around here.
  2. ]We're en route to a Triple Crappiness night. those dont exist anymore, not with this lead.
  3. i'm ok with it the way it is, a long scroll down would have been annoying.
  4. Let the rest of MLB get in a bidding war for Zito. I'd be happy if we could land Jason Schmidt agreed. Schmidt over Zito for me too and its not even close in my mind.

    Oliver!

i still like this deal. Omar "bought low" on a young hard-throwing lefty who DID have a successful season 2 years ago. Omar also "sold high" on an outfielder who before this year had shown that he was a platoon-against-lefties guy at best. he got a decent reliever in the process, who last year was the best reliever on the Mets. The worst case scenario is that Nady continues to hit as he has hit this year (which is good but not great), Hernandez gives the Mets nothing, and Perez turns into Rick Ankiel, and Nady's replacement (Milledge/Chavez) craps out for the rest of the season. I don't think thats such a terrible downside. The best case scenario is that Nady returns to hitting the way he did before this season so that nobody will miss him, Oliver Perez gives the Mets 5 or more years as a #3 quality starter, Roberto Hernandez adequately replaces Sanchez this year, and Nady's replacement plays better than him the rest of the way (definetaly possible for Milledge.) this is some huge upside and only 1 or 2 of these things have to come true to make the trade worthwhile.
  6. I think i'd take Schmidt off that list before Zito... i picked indifferent in the poll, because while we didnt get the only thing that would have made me happy (Oswalt, Schmidt, Willis, Zito, or someone else of that caliber) we also didnt do anything we'd regret in the long term (like a kazmir deal, in this case dealing milledge)

  8. Frayed Knot- i have nothing against someone "blogging" by properly citing deals and rumors to credible sources and then providing his own analysis of those moves, in fact i encourage it. What i don't like are guys who act like they know things that they don't and like to cite to their "anonymous sources"
  9. why would anything be allowed to interrupt a deal that brings us Go..i mean Oswalt?
  10. Edgy DC wrote: I don't think it needed to get done. Assuming the role that Nady had on this team is of equal value ot the role Duaner played, replacing Nady with internal parts seems a lot more difficult than replacing Sanchez. well i dont agree with that assumption (that your setup man is less important than your 7th best hitter) and i think the replacement for Nady is the equal or better Milledge while the replacement for Sanchez would have been Heath Bell (with Bell taking over for Bradford, Bradford for Heilman, Heilman for Sanchez.)
  11. Perez was outstanding 2 years ago, whether he can ever reclaim that i don't know, but this is a trade that needed to get done following the unfortunate injury to Sanchez. With Chavez playing well and Milledge still here Nady was pretty expendable.
  12. both Burrell and Abreu having gaudy offensive numbers but i've heard that they are both "afraid of the wall" defensively. pitching has obviously been the main philly problem as many young guys they thought would pan out just didn't- Randy Wolf, Brandon Duckworth, Ryan Madson (as a starter) come to mind.
  13. ]Actually, I think we should just count down with Mets uniform numbers. You know, if it hits 44, post Jay Payton. 43 could be a picture of Terry Leach, and so on... or everyone could just post all the silly pictures they want....
  14. theres nothing wrong with Woodward on your bench. he's ALOT better than several guys who have held starting MI jobs in the majors recently (Neifi Perez, Christian Guzman, Royce Clayton to name a few)
  15. Edgy DC wrote: I think the MVP chants are dumb as it is. Rooting for one Met over another makes little sense. but thats really a seperate thing from accusing anyone of racism. i happen to think the MVP chants a great support for your player and fun for the fans, i fail to see who loses.
  16. ]Anybody crying MVP for Wright should check whether he's rooting for the Mets or the white race or maybe they are rooting for the homegrown player who also happens to have grown up a Mets fan? nah, lets just play race card...

  19. there was alot of applause after the homerun, have Met fans taken over Turner Field?
  20. i like the snow white uniforms as well as the road gray. i'd like to see the black uniform abandoned entirely, or, at least, only used as an alternative road jersey. ]"Faggity white uniforms." you couldn't say that in a movie in 2006 without getting in trouble, more political correctness gone overboard. i love the movie and especially that character, it is he, and not the young tom cruise, who is the hero. edit- oh a Cruise is a cradle-robber. yes, i'm jealous.
  21. me. still think that would be the best longterm move. of course i wont have many supporters today but wait until he gets lit up a couple of times and all the other naysayers will be right back in my camp.
  22. way to give them the first out on the basepaths.
  23. though Wright blows everyone else away in my Schaffer totals i'll still go with Beltran
  24. Delgado 1.5 Nady 1 Wright 1 LoDuca 1 Bradford 1 Sanchez 1 late vote!
