World Series Preference Poll

Every year I put up a poll to gauge which teams you prefer to see play in the World Series. This year is a little different and I'm not going to put up all the permutations possible since I assume we all want the Mets to represent the National League in the fall classic. Remember, this is a poll for which teams you prefer to see play in the World Series, not the teams you predict will actually end up there (there's another poll for that).

I voted Blue Jays. I have no particular desire to see a Subway Series. I want the Yankees out as soon as possible. (And by that I mean on Tuesday.)

I would be ecstatic to see the Mets play anyone other than the Yankees. I prefer the Astros dispatch the Yankees as quickly as posible. I voted for the Royals because I like seeing small market teams do well.

I voted for the Royals, because I think it would be cool to have the two teams in the World Series playing against each other on the following Opening Day.

When I said it's time to take back New York I meant from the Yankees (duh). And if we clobber 'em in the World Series I'd have to say mission accomplished. We could back in but I'd rather settle it head 2 head, and balance the NY post season scales at 1-1.

Voted for Houston because it will lead to tons of 1986 NLCS recollection.

Yankees. I want to see the Mets beat the Yankees this year and then I want to never hear the name Timo Perez again.

If it's the Astros, I'll have to keep reminding myself it's the World Series and not the League Championship Series.

I couldn't bring myself to vote for that as my preference either, even though there's not an iota of doubt in my mind that a Mets victory over the MFYs would be about 100% sweeter than a victory over any other AL opponent.

Same here. I find it hard to believe that anyone who lives around this area would opt for this choice.

Rangers, but the Blue Jays are a good backup plan. I have good friends in both fan bases and that would make it doubly enjoyable for me.

Yuck the Fankees and if I had my druthers, they'd never make the playoffs ever again.

I voted Mets-Royals but could also go Mets-Jays. They are the 2 most deserving of the lesser circuit's entrants.

Round about mid-season, the AL East was totally up in the air. Nobody had made a move to secure it. But the only thing that was consistently there was Toronto's offense. Even more than the Nats in the NL East, they seemed like the tiger waiting to pounce. Unlike the Nats, they totally did.

It's a dirty little wish, but I'm kinda looking for Pineda to get tossed from the WC game for pine tarring somewhere on his body.

I think they match up well with the Rangers so I'll go there.

Much as I want to see them pound the pine tar out of the Yankees, my soul couldn't take another loss to them. I want them gone, and quickly.

Jays are just too much of an offensive juggernaut. They hammer even good pitching.

Royals would be my second choice. I think the Mets would light up Johnny Cueto.

Cueto ran up against the midseason Mets on June 26 back when Ruben Tejada was our third baseman. He gave up only two hits, lost 2-1 to Syndergaard thanks to a two-run homer by Granderboom.

I can't see a Subway Series being spun as being about anything but the Yankees. Even if the Mets won, the stories would still be about the Yankees. I don't think I could stand all that glurge.

Astros - rooting like hell for them tomorrow, but seeing them represent the AL in the WS would still be a bit weird. Plus I don't think they're ready yet.
Yanx - need you ask? I want them eliminated by the 3rd inning on Tuesday
Rangers - were supposed to be prepping for next year then suddenly caught fire.
Royals - defending AL champs are a fun team to watch (speed & defense) though the pen isn't what it was last year and Cueto hasn't been what they hoped
Blue Jays - biggest hitting team in all of MLB, now with more David Price. Biggest drawback is four games of indoor baseball on turf.


No particular preference here other than the ABY choice (anyone but Yanx).
If I had to put them in order I might go with Royals, Rangers, Jays, Astros, MFY
