Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted August 28, 2015 Posted August 28, 2015 even dumber. those scanners probably use slightly different technology that makes it easier I guess? (from what I understand, LED versus laser scanner)
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Anyone else here tonight? Section 511. Let's spill beer on Nats fans, if any of those beltway frontrunners are still watching.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 I have just registered "for the possibility of being selected for the opportunity to purchase tickets, subject to availability, for potential New York Mets 2015 Postseason games at Citi Field."Are there enough qualifiers in that sentence? I guess they're trying to make it as clear as possible that I'm not guaranteed to get tickets for games that may not even be played.

'possibility' not everyone wins the lottery.'opportunity' you don't have to buy.'subject to availability' they're probably only selling like 17 tickets, so even if you win they might be sold out.'potential' Lottery is for all games any non-eliminated NL team has a chance of playing, whether or not they do.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 I just registered as well. Getting (winning) the opportunity to go would require taking off work, a plane ride and a hotel stay (i.e., many more $$$ than just the tix alone), but who knows when the next chance may be?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Even if I am selected, I'm not certain that I'd go. But I can't not throw my hat in the ring!
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 I'm close enough to Chicago or even St. Louis that attending a playoff game in one of those cities is not out of the question for me. But I would much rather be rooting for the home team with tens of thousands doing the same as opposed to being one of a handful of visiting fans in the den of the enemy.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 I'll be going to the game this Monday. The game might not have much meaning, but it will be fun to welcome them home from the road trip that effectively clinched the division.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 Meaning shmeaning. Does the falling of a leaf have meaning? Does the skipping of a stone? Does the whistling of a tune? Meaning is where you find it. You pay money, you cheer, you laugh, you go home delighted or disappointed. Meaning. If Mr. Met is there, how can there be no meaning?
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 I'll be at Friday night's game.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 12, 2015 Posted September 12, 2015 I haven't gone to Citizens Bank Park in eight years, but if the Mets have a chance to clinch in Philadelphia, I just might head down there. My guess is that they'll have it clinched before they leave Cincinnati. Maybe even before they even get there.

Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 We grabbed tickets for the 23rd (a rare mutual night off, with no school-- thanks to Yim Kippur and Eid-- on either side of the evening), so I'm kinda hoping for the Nats to play a LITTLE better over the next week or so.

Got tacit approval from my baby-rearing coworker and the Mets are doing some sorta of beerfest so I feel professional obligation.i MAY try to get Sophie another game in, which would be the very last game of the year if so.Playoff lottery results are in Monday to see if I have the option to go to any of those.

I'm content to watch on TV.Unless they're sending out wins after losses, I'm out too for the myriad of entries I put in. (still got hopes with the 7 line.)And of course, NLCS/WS drawings, for presumably less seats
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 I see you can get guaranteed 2015 postseason tickets if you put down a $500 deposit on a 2016 season ticket plan.If you don't want a 2016 plan, you could put down the deposit anyway and look at it as a $500 surcharge for 2015 playoff tickets. The Mets will play between one and ten home games during the postseason. (One if the Dodgers get home field in the NLDS and sweep the Mets, ten if the Mets home field in the NLDS and NLCS and both series go seven games, and the Mets advance to the World Series and that series goes at least five games.)So it would be quite a gamble. The $500 might be okay if you're going to go to ten games but if it's just one game, that's a different story. But I wonder if anyone is pondering this strategy?

But I wonder if anyone is pondering this strategy? Not in the day and age of StubHub.But..if you're really ambitious, the pricing on tickets for plan holders is good because it includes a 10% discount and less fees than you get on single game seats unless you buy at the stadium. It wouldn't be that hard to resell them. (which is going to happen, scalpers WILL be doing this. means more volume for us on the secondary market next year)you're better off going $250 deposit for 20 games though, unless you actually plan to live at Citi next year. You don't get all the postseason games, but you'll get there, and $250 could cover all, or most, of your plan and it's much less work to try to resell those.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 So now I've been to four games this year, which is more than in probably the last 10 or 12 years. All within the last six weeks.August 10, I saw them beat the Rockies 4-2But then:August 16: Pirates 8 Mets 1September 1: Phillies 14, Mets 8September 16: Marlins 6, Mets 0I'm done.

I wonder if the Mets tapped into this data before sending out playoff lottery invites ;-)

Guest sharpie Guests Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Maybe I can only see a halfway decent game if Seawolf is in the house. We'll need to coordinate.

A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 I think I saw on FB that TMF got tix for 2 games(?). I'm eyeing game 3 in LA if things hold.Anyone else plunking down playoff dough to root root root for the home/away team?
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 I mulled a trip to both NYC and LA and the purchase of scalped tix and see one of the games. My biggest problem is not knowing yet who is going to have home field advantage in that series and being able to take time off and book travel on the right dates ahead of time. The longer it remains up in the air, the less likely I will go.I am 50/50 on a trip to Chicago or St. Louis if an NLCS opportunity comes up.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 D-Dad and I actually got the whole postseason strip. Hoping to use those World Series tickets in November!
