Longtime Mets clubhouse manager Charlie Samuels has been suspended by the organization, the Mets confirmed.

The organization offered no elaboration beyond the following statement: "Last Wednesday, the Mets suspended Charlie Samuels indefinitely without pay. As this is an ongoing personnel matter, we have no further comment."

There seems to be a scummier edge to these clubhouse guys than I'd ever considered. The whole thing with Vinnie Russo (was that his name) who helped Rodamski with the whole steroid delivery process, just seems, dirty.

Fired for a 'personal matter', if that's accurate at all, wouldn't indicate to me theft or anything illegal against the team. I would think if he got shitcanned because of roidy stuff, the org would wanna announce that (and may yet) to show the new sheriff in town is 'cleanin' this shithole up'. Maybe he was all wrecked on absinthe and crashed his car & smacked his wife (sorry, Charlie).

I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure -- almost certain. The black uniforms were his idea.
