Guest themetfairy Guests Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Who'll be there today?I'll be up in Promenade 527.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2009 Author Posted April 26, 2009 I have an extra ticket (gratis) for Tuesday night's showdown with the Marlins if anybody is in need of one, or just wants to go...
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 Was there yesterday as well.Booooooooooooooooo! I'm now 0-2 this season. 0-3 if you count the exhibition game against the Red Sox.Oh - one thing to add - At Citi Field if you get there early enough for batting practice you are allowed to walk down to the front rows in left, center and right fields. A good spot to fight for batting practice homeruns and banter with the players.Yesterday I was out there with my kids and the balls were routinely hitting the wall. Every 3 or so times that a guy would catch or retrieve a ball he'd throw it up to the stands. My kids were having no luck but a security guard gave a bp hr that landed out of reach of the fans to my daughter.I noticed a Nats coach with 'LISTACH' stitched on his back in the outfield with a fungo bat generally ignoring everyone yelling at him for balls. I told my son to try yelling 'Hey Pat' and see if that worked. He did, Listach turned and my blue-eyed, 12 year-old held up his glove and flashed his braces. Listach flipped him a ball. Dad's awesome.By the way - the bp balls have a stamp on them that says 'PRACTICE' underneath the mlb logo. Never seen that before. Assuming its new and used as a way to deter counterfeiting memorabilia.
HahnSolo Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2009 Posted April 27, 2009 StubHub sucks. They take a 15% fee from the seller's share, plus add a 10% fee to the buyer's price.Anyway, if I list them on Stubhub, I have to price them at $36 each to break even. If somebody buys them, they'll have to pay $79.20 plus shipping fees. What a rip-off.[/quote:ade2p85d]I bought four tickets to the April 16 game on StubHub. I paid $24 per ticket, plus I think additional charges brought it up to $107 total. When I got the tickets, I saw they were listed as $30 tickets. So I saved money going through StubHub. Maybe I am the exception to the rule though.Edit: yay, 2000 posts!
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Tomorrow, Saturday, will be our first game at CF (section 414). My older son will be there, taking the bus from Cambridge just for the game. I can't wait. I will joined my favorite author (it's not Chuck Palahniuk, although he's really good, too).
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 just got tickets tonight from a coworker with a prior engagement! section 106.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 I''m going tomorrow with my son; we'll be up in LF, Section 533.

Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 In the usuals tomorrow, sec. 513. The stadium is a month old and I'm comfortable with it already.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Hey I'm Scott Strickland, Every time I hear his name I think of this game, which fits in this thread as well as any. In a game against the Expos on April 13, 2002 (thanks, UMDB), probably in the seventh inning, Edgardo Alfonzo hit a screaming foul line drive into the Loge. Right at me. I had it all the way until I didn't, and in about five seconds my left hand was visibly swelling. Turns out I broke two bones in my left pinky. I hung in there until I couldn't stop my hand from twitching, and watched Strickland give up the go-ahead run in the 11th on the TV in the LIJ emergency room waiting area. And, since everyone asks, I didn't get the ball.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 I once had seats in the front row right above the area where the left field auxiliary scoreboards was. (You know, by the Newsday sign.) Mike Fitzgerald hit a ball that slammed into the wall right below me. I was reaching down to try to catch it with my bare hand, but at the last second I realized that the ball would smash my hand against the wall, so I jerked my hand away. I don't know if the ball would have actually hit my hand, but I'm glad I pulled away.
Guest Swan Swan H Guests Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Good call. History has proven that the ball is harder than our bones, yet some choose wisely (you) and some end up in a splint for six weeks and have a finger that points about 30 degrees NNW from the rest of his hand (moi).
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 I'll be making my Citi Field debut Wednesday afternoon vs. the Braves. I'll be with my friend who is a Braves fan. Other than that one character flaw he's a pretty good guy so don't kick his ass.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 En route to CF for a Mother's Day-te with Mama LWFS ("MilnerCarterNotasSpryasSheUsedtoBe, ButSheStillGetsAround", if you will).Section 508, with a blue hoody and glasses, in case anyone's feeling like saying hey over an adult beverage.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 The winner of tonight's DREAM DATE with JCL is LeiterWagnerFasterStronmger!I should remind allayaall that tonite is a "value game" and tix like mine can be had for just 20 buxx, so you should all come out.

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 wanted to go tonight but its not happening, so expect Santana to throw the first no-hitter in franchise history in my absence.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Going on Memorial Day , it's a night game though which I found a bit odd . It's a value game against the Nats , four tixs at $11 each.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 try 3,000![/quote:1brvsnb6]That'd be easier in one sense, I suspect, because logistically it's just not going to happen for you without a lot of foresight, planning, travel expense, etc.But for me, technically, I could leave work after lunch and be at the park in time for the first pitch. But I wouldn't get home until 5 AM, and my wife would have no one at home to help with the kids at dinner and bedtime, and I'd have to take time off from work, and blah blah blah. It's just close enough to tempt and far enough away to prohibit. Damnit!
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Have to "settle" for watching on my big ass HDTV, with a cold (and cheap) alcoholic drink in my hand, free parking in the garage, and my kid or kids in my lap and wife by my side. Not the worst setup in the world
