Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 I complained a month or so ago that there was too much pbp and not enough color.Races to see who starts the thread are always a bad sttart, leading to races to see who can report first what we're all watchingt, to races to see who can post Kapooties first.Be best, not first.Be deep, not broad.More why and how, less what.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 On that Brewers board that we go to when Mets and Brewers hook up they don't allow pbp...........

That's being recorded in about 8,000 places probably. Not that it really hurts either. Just need some more color commentary for posterity and fun.I completely agree. Or at least, color and discussion along with PbP. Not to be a thread dick, but IGTs are the last thing I'll ever re-read on this forum. Just a mass of photoslop and play by play anymore. You're right, of course, but where did it all go wrong?OK, you two must be on an elite level far above the rest of us. Take a look at an IGT from exactly one year ago and tell me what makes it more glorious than today's.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Prior is removed after walking Beltran. (I explained Vanis Takee at the top of the second page of this thread, by the way.)Dusty chooses not to push him in the name of a potential no-hitter.Smart move.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 ="Edgy DC"]] (Vanis takee! Vanis takee!)Huh?See, that's why you read IGTs.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 I know Dusty has a history of blowing out arms, especially Prior's and Wood's, but taking your guy out in midst of a NO HITTER?
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 How can Prior go only 5.2 without giving up a hit? 103 pitches. Just another way walks kill.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Prior is gone with a no-no in progress. The Shea crowd gives him a nice hand as he exits.OK Mets - Let's Score Some Runs!

Your grenie theory needs a little work. Later
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 IGTs need more CNN breaking news: Andrea Yates was insane when she drowned her children in a bathtub, jury finds.

Like someone said, all context of the game gets lost that way.Screw it. Everyone just post how you want. Don't listen to me. Or read me.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 That was Bob Gibson, Sandy Koufax or Nolan Ryan the manager would have gotten a steely glare and walked right back into the dugoutGeneral Dusty, this game is on your head if we come back to win!
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Beltran steals a base! (Vanis Takee! Vanis Takee!)He must have heard Gary griping about his reluctance.

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Beltran steals! Beltran steals! That would show 'em...we're an error and a passed ball away from leading without a hit.
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Heh, imagine if Willie Randolph does that to Pedro Friday night? Pedro would treat Willie as if he was the bench coach Randolph replaced on the MFY bench!
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Mark Prior's arm is more important than any no-hitter. Dusty made the right move.Frankly, if it was Pedro coming back from an injury I'd feel the same way. I no longer care if any Met ever throws a no-hitter. In fact, I kind of like that it's never happened.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Based on the game so far, Maine gets 6 Schaefer points, nobody else gets any.Gary tells us Maine's thrown 103 pitches.

Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Bradford and Feliciano are warming up. You have to figure that Maine is gone after this inning is over, if not earlier.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Maine has now struck out the first two batters in the 7th.By October, he may be our best pitcher. NLDS Game 1 anybody?
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 If he finishes the 7th, I'd let Maine pitch the 8th unless his turn at bat comes up in the bottom of the 7th.
