The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 04:47 PM Posted yesterday at 04:47 PM The Mets really need to score some runs early to help out Thornton in his MLB debut. The team needs this win to continue their recent momentum.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 05:15 PM Posted yesterday at 05:15 PM At least one question has been answered. It wasn't clear from earlier reports whether Thornton would start, or come in after an "opener. Which reminds me. When the the term "long man" become "bulk reliever"? Later
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 05:29 PM Posted yesterday at 05:29 PM I thought that a "bulk reliever" was a laxative. The Hot Corner 1
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 05:43 PM Posted yesterday at 05:43 PM Both Christian Scott and Nolan McLean have had trouble throwing enough strikes lately. Let's hope Thorton isn't even wilder. I know, that was a long way to go for a very mediocre joke, especially coming right on the heels of 'bulk reliever' seawolf17 1

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Zack vs. Zach. I wonder if Gary Cohen will tell us the last time that happened and act like it means anything, whippoorwill 1
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago I've always conflated Zach Littell with Mark Littell, an unrelated Cardinals pitcher in the early 80s. I remember the elder Littell because his 1981 Topps card not only looked badly airbrushed, but my copy also had a fuzzy printing error that made it look like he was bleeding from the eyes. It was so weird.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago I always conflated him with Emily Litella, but that speaks to a whole 'nother set of issues. seawolf17 1
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago So we're told Thornton doesn't give up walks or HRs. Oooops
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Consequence of no Holmes Now rain!!!

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago Nats don't have an outfielder tall enough to rob that one!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Austin Warren + Carson Benge + Hayden Senger = OUT!! Now is the PERFECT time for a Peerless Broiler!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago A bit of a rough start for the kid but finished on a upswing and keeps his ERA below double digit territory* thanks to getting an inning ending out on a Benge-to-Senger throw out of a runner. * 4 ER/4-1/3 IP = 8.31
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago On seeing that Baty walk, it's worth noting that the Mets didn't walk at all last night. But a visit from The Dark Fairy of Grounding into Double Plays ends that.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Losing 2 of 3 to the Nationals after a nice period kinda tells me I'm pissing against the wind to believe the Mets can finish over .500 I think Stearns knows they're toast and is promoting youth
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Juan Soto is decorating the Washington night sky. I'm certain that the Mets can finish over .500.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Consecutive two HR days by our 2nd & 3rd hitters and yet ... going 0-2 in those games?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Well, that homer after walking up to "Forever Young" is insult and injury.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Well that pretty much fucks things.
