Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 24 Author Posted April 24 Now a clean inning here and we can all say it together: Winning Pitcher Huascar Brazoban
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 24 Posted April 24 I’ve seen 7 runs score in the five minutes since I sat down.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Two pitchers on the field is a Willie Randolph Year One mess-up.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 24 Posted April 24 We are the dumbest team in baseball. metirish 1
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Turn the fucking lights on, Jesus, what are we doing here ? Centerfield 1
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Look, I know you want Williams to get his cahnfidence back, but suddenly this is NOT a save situation any more, and we know what happens to closers™ when it's not a save situation. Don't do this, Mendoza.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 24 Posted April 24 I missed the start of this game , why did Scott only go 1.1 innings? Was that the plan .?
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24 Posted April 24 No, he just forgot where the strike zone was. metirish 1
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Just walk Buxton intentionally, because whatever he's about to do will be worse.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Justin Willard dressing like a trainer on his trip to the mound did not make this any better. Maybe Brazoban knew exactly what he was doing.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Can we just Trachsel Williams down to Syracuse for a few weeks in hopes he figures it out?
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Brazoban was right to try and bogart the mound before this bum got to it.

seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Well, we're not in last place any more, at least.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Maybe the Mets plan on doing the season the same way they did the offseason. They have every intention of being competitive, but first, it's really important that they kick us all in the balls a whole bunch of times so we all know who is in charge.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 24 Posted April 24 I can’t figure out if Brazoban coming out was good or bad. On the one hand, he did get one out. And maybe that was the difference. On the other hand, maybe that disruption got Williams out of rhythm.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 24 Posted April 24 He reduced the chances of Williamsing the game away by 33% Centerfield 1
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 24 Posted April 24 I love the idea of them coming across each other approaching the mound. "What are you doing here?" "What the fuck are you doing here?" "I'm pitching, dipshit." "Um ... nobody told me I was out of the game." "And you didn't see me coming into the game?" "I didn't see shit, man. The lights were out." "Did you think maybe the lights were out because I was coming into the game?" "Maybe they were out because nobody wanted to see you pitch." "I didn't just give up a grand slam." "Yeah, because you weren't pitching. And you know, I'm still not convinced you are." "Well, I am." "And I'm to believe that why? Because, you know, Austin Warren isn't here to bail you out anymore." "Just go back to the dugout." "Why? Because you say so?" "Because the bullpen phone rang, and it says so. Do they not have phones in Cuba?" "Oh, look. Here comes the ump. He says I'm the pitcher and you have to go back to the bullpen." "Fuck that. I'm going to the dugout. You get one batter and then I'm coming back out here." "Whatever. Hold on. We'll turn out the lights for you." MFS62 1
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 24 Posted April 24 I see that Williams was credited with the win even though Brazoban was the Mets pitcher when the winning runs scored. I suppose the official scorer used the "brief and ineffective" rule to take the win from Brazoban, but Williams doesn't really seem much more deserving. I probably would have given the win to Peterson, but I'm not sure how much discretion the official scorer has. Does the win have to go to a pitcher adjacent in the box score to the guy who was brief and ineffective? MFS62 1
duan Old-Timey Member Posted April 24 Posted April 24 sorta sped watched this, over the morning. Crazy game. Totally inconsequential but did anyone else notice the catcher microphone being too high in the mix for the first few innings at least.

IIRC it is fully at the discretion of the official scorer. But I think you're right. They generally give it to the "adjacent" pitcher. Later
