You don't even need the cameras.  The Trackman technology is so astute that it can detect a hurtling-and-spinning 103-mph pitch's location relative to the strike zone.  It can certainly detect whether a fly ball is inside or outside the foul pole.

In fact, I'm pretty certain such data recorded that ball and has been publicly disseminated.

This ties in with the discussion we've been having about Ewing in a couple of threads.  Even the most promising looking prospects arrive in the majors as works in progress.  Kelenic had some exploitable weaknesses when he came up.  Again, this is hardly unusual.  What makes it so surprising is that somebody with a high level of raw talent who bashed his way through the minors has been so completely unable to adjust, even a little bit. 

PCA also struggled his first couple of years too.  Part of that is because his glove got him to the big leagues before his bat was fully ready.  But even last year, he was frigid for most of the second half of the season.  There was no guarantee he'd be a sustainably good player, much less MVP caliber within a year.  But the talent was always there.

Tonight the Yanx (Spencer Jones) hit one high and down the line which was ruled a HR despite the booth and Jones himself (he stopped halfway towards 1st) thinking it was probably foul. The call stood after an extremely short review. Now I don't know what replays the ump center saw. We watching YES saw basically nothing, just the same wide angle shot as was shown live over and over again (which wasn't definitive either way) as if there was no second (or third) angle*. 

Kind of ironic that HR replays, the first one MLB used (and instituted a rule mid-season) because they thought it was so important, is now the one which probably has the biggest error rate due to the lack of, or poor placement of, cameras.

 

 

* Would I put it beyond YES to withhold an angle which indicated the ball was foul? ... no., but of course there's no proof of that.

Jihwan Bae - waiver claim began 2026 in the Mets system. Later signed with the Brewers, going 2-for-3 for their Triple-A team and going 1-for-2 with the Brewers themselves. 

Gilberto Celestino - played in the Mets system in 2025; hit .275/.363/.393 with 3 home runs, 24 RBI and 13 steals in 51 games for the Triple-A Round Rock Express in the Rangers system in 2026. 

Cooper Criswell - selected off waivers from the Red Sox in the 2025-2026 offseason but never played in the Mets system. In 2026, he's gone 3-2 with a 3.53 ERA in 32 relief appearances for the Mariners. Was 2-0 with a 10.13 ERA in 3 relief appearances for their Triple-A team. 

Luis De Los Santos - waiver claim played in the Mets system in 2025; hit .314/.352/.438 with 5 home runs and 44 RBI in 80 games for the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos in Mexico in 2026.

Franklin Gómez - prospect played in the Mets system from 2022 to 2025. Traded to the Guardians in January 2026. Between their High-A and Double-A teams, he was 4-1 with a 3.25 ERA in 16 starts. He averaged more than a K per frame. 

Joe La Sorsa - played in the Mets system in 2025; went 1-1 with a 2.78 ERA in 28 games (2 starts) between the Red Sox and Pirates Triple-A clubs in 2026. For the Red Sox themselves, he had a 27.00 ERA in 1/3 inning of work. 

Nick Madrigal - signed on a big league deal to play in the Mets system in 2025, but never did; hit .299/.385/.389 with 4 home runs, 39 RBI and 11 steals in 85 games between the Rays and Angels Triple-A clubs. Between the Rays (his current team) and Angels themselves, he's hit .275/.367/.294 in 51 at-bats over 18 games in 2026. 

Joey Meneses - played in the Mets system in 2025; hit .311/.368/.474 with 16 home runs and 110 RBI in 116 games for the Athletics Triple-A club and .150/.280/.150 in 20 ABs for the Athletics themselves in 2026.

Oliver Ortega - played in the Mets system in 2025; was 3-4 with a 4.43 ERA in 45 relief appearances between the Bravos de Leon and Sultanes de Monterrey in Mexico in 2026. In 42 2/3 innings, he had 53 Ks.

Yacksel Rios - played in the Mets system in 2024 and 2025; for the LG Twins in Korea, he was 1-2 with a 3.63 ERA in 14 relief appearances in 2026. For the Cubs Triple-A team, he had a 4.24 ERA in 11 games. For the Cubs themselves, he had a 0.00 in 1 relief appearance.

Drew Romo - selected off waivers by the Mets in the 2025-2026 offseason but never played in their system. For the White Sox in 2026, he's hit .141/.239/.288 with 7 home runs and 16 RBI in 177 at-bats over 60 games. For their Triple-A club, he hit .298/.385/.561 with 4 home runs and 11 RBI in 17 games. 

Anderson Severino - began 2026 in the Mets system; went 0-0 with a 3.77 ERA in 13 relief appearances for the Hanshin Tigers in Japan and had a 0.00 ERA in 2 relief appearances for their farm club in 2026.

TJ Shook - played in the Mets system in 2024 and 2025. Had been acquired for Tyler Jay. Taken by the Rockies in the 2025 Rule V Draft. In 2026, he is 0-0 with a 8.22 ERA in 5 relief appearances for the Rockies. For their Triple-A team, he's 4-4 with 12 saves and a 3.51 ERA in 47 relief appearances.

Jett Williams - Mets 1st round pick in 2022 and former top prospect, played in their system from 2022-2025. Traded to the Brewers for Freddy Peralta/Tobias Myers in January. Hit .233/.340/.384 with 9 home runs, 41 RBI and 21 steals in 81 games for the Brewers' Triple-A club in 2026.

Rafael Ortega - 35-year-old former Mets outfielder (2023) hit .260/.328/.481 with 5 home runs, 15 RBI and 9 steals in 35 games for the Toros de Tijuana in Mexico. 

Eric Orze - 29-year-old former Mets pitcher (2024) is 2-2 with a 5.66 ERA in 36 relief appearances for the Twins. At Triple-A, he was 1-0 with a 2.35 ERA in 19 relief appearances.
