Juan Centeno - 36-year-old former Mets catcher (2013 & 2014) is currently in the Diamondbacks system, but he has been hurt and hasn't played this year.

3. How is there not technology available to put a camera on the top/side of the foul pole?  Or one looking straight down the line at each pole?  — so we don’t have to use those weird TV angles.

You don't even need the cameras.  The Trackman technology is so astute that it can detect a hurtling-and-spinning 103-mph pitch's location relative to the strike zone.  It can certainly detect whether a fly ball is inside or outside the foul pole.

In fact, I'm pretty certain such data recorded that ball and has been publicly disseminated.

This ties in with the discussion we've been having about Ewing in a couple of threads.  Even the most promising looking prospects arrive in the majors as works in progress.  Kelenic had some exploitable weaknesses when he came up.  Again, this is hardly unusual.  What makes it so surprising is that somebody with a high level of raw talent who bashed his way through the minors has been so completely unable to adjust, even a little bit. 

PCA also struggled his first couple of years too.  Part of that is because his glove got him to the big leagues before his bat was fully ready.  But even last year, he was frigid for most of the second half of the season.  There was no guarantee he'd be a sustainably good player, much less MVP caliber within a year.  But the talent was always there.

Tonight the Yanx (Spencer Jones) hit one high and down the line which was ruled a HR despite the booth and Jones himself (he stopped halfway towards 1st) thinking it was probably foul. The call stood after an extremely short review. Now I don't know what replays the ump center saw. We watching YES saw basically nothing, just the same wide angle shot as was shown live over and over again (which wasn't definitive either way) as if there was no second (or third) angle*. 

Kind of ironic that HR replays, the first one MLB used (and instituted a rule mid-season) because they thought it was so important, is now the one which probably has the biggest error rate due to the lack of, or poor placement of, cameras.

 

 

* Would I put it beyond YES to withhold an angle which indicated the ball was foul? ... no., but of course there's no proof of that.

Guillermo Heredia - 35-year-old former Mets outfielder (2020) is hitting .281/.334/.461 with 16 home runs and 80 RBI in 90 games for SSG Landers in Korea.

Colin Holderman - 30-year-old former Mets reliever (2022) is 6-4 with a 2.75 ERA in 53 appearances for the Guardians. He is 2-0 with a 7.45 mark in 6 appearances at Triple-A. 

Clay Holmes - 33-year-old former Mets starter (2025-2026) is 2-2 with a 1.55 ERA in 5 starts for the Cubs since being traded in early August. He is 6-6 with a 2.09 ERA in 14 starts on the year as a whole.

Carl Edwards Jr. - 35-year-old former Mets pitcher (2026) is 4-8 with a 6.29 ERA in 17 games (10 starts) for the Tigers Triple-A club since departing the Mets system early in the season. Overall, including his time in the Mets system, he is 5-10 with a 6.08 mark in 21 games (14 starts) in the minors this year. 

Luis Garcia - 39-year-old former Mets pitcher (2026) was 0-1 with a 10.38 ERA in 9 relief appearances for the Twins after leaving the Mets earlier in the season. Anthony Kay - 31-year-old former Mets pitcher (2023) is 9-8 with a 4.47 ERA in 29 games (27 starts) for the White Sox. 

Franklyn Kilome - 31-year-old former Mets pitcher (2020) was 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA in 14 relief appearances for the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos in Mexico. He then joined the Guelph Royals of the Canadian Baseball League. It appears he might not be pitching for them as he's made no appearances, however he made an appearance as a batter and is 2-for-4 at the dish. 

Craig Kimbrel - 38-year-old former Mets pitcher (2026) went 0-0 with a 3.86 ERA in 19 relief appearances for the Rays and is 1-2 with a 3.60 ERA in 10 relief appearances for the Royals since leaving the Mets system in late May. Between all three teams, he is 1-4 with a 4.53 ERA in 43 relief appearances.
