Latest “let’s dump on the Mets, and cause social media engagement” meme craze is pointing out that with his next game played, Jose Altuve will have played in more postseason games, the the Met Franchise has

Manny Ramirez (111), David Justice (112), Bernie Williams (121), Jorge Posada (121) and Derek Jeter (156) have more

Yadier FLOWERBEDDING Molina (104), Enrique Hernandez (103), and Alex Bregman (102) round out the 100 games club

OMG, WHO CARES!?

More of a quirky sign of postseason expansion since 1994 than “gee its sad that a handful of players have more postseason games played, since the playoffs were expanded for the 1994 season, in their careers than a handful of franchises, including my favorite team, have played in their decades long history”

And the Mets aren’t the worse offenders.

I mean Colorado just ran off their 4th 100+ loss season in a row

Have the Mariners or Angels even played their 100th postseason game yet?

Like Bonilla Day, this is just foreign slop (Sportskeedia Baseball Facebook Page, location India) for rage and engagement baiting.  Especially those who troll Met fans.

I wouldn’t worry about it, because while I’d love to have Met players populate the 100 game club, its still more indicative to the expansion of the postseason than hashtag LOL[this franchise that has been woefully inept for much of the same timeframe]

According to Claude, so take this information with a grain of salt, the Twins have played 76 postseason games, 96 if you include the Senators.

If the Twins haven't gotten all that close to 100 despite winning it all twice and making the WS three times, I'd imagine many other teams haven't, either. Off the top of my head: Brewers, Mariners, Angels, Diamondbacks, Padres, Pirates, CUBS.

I bet the Cubs haven't done it. So I'm stopping there.

Steve can be kind of a masochist this way.  He resents #lolMets and yet he seeks it.  Dear me, he excavates for it.

To me, it's just one more reason we should do away with the post-season entirely.

Steve, you have a different definition of “craze” than I do.

But, we can still make this into something productive.  Trivia time:  who are the 5 players with the most career postseason games played who also played at least 1 postseason game for the Mets?

You know very well how dynamic social media app landing page feed (Meta’s family, TikTok, BlueSky, TwiX, etc) algorithms work.

I'm not sure where the cutoff for "most career postseason games played" is, unless it is somehow a five-way tie, but I will open with Carlos Beltran.

Didn’t play in postseason for Mets

Adrian Gonzalez

Andres Gimenez

(Yes, there was a counting error when I put up the list initially)

I’m not sure he ever played in the post season for the mets but Jeff Kent gotta have played in more then 33 post season games

Shawn Green only played in 13 career postseason games, 9 with the Mets.  He missed Toronto’s runs and the Dodgers weren’t that good in the 00s.

Kent was with the Mets from 92-96 so no postseason there.  He played in 49 career postseason games with other teams.

I was about to type Justin Turner when I foolishly pivoted to Shawn Green.

The universe has either forgiven me or is setting me up for further shame, as Turner's name is still out there.

Justin Turner.
