Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Justin did not appear in the postseason for the Mets.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Yeah, that's an oily cause. I looked him up after answering with him and he actually played in one gajillion post-season games. Let's try Joolio Franco. He was a Brave for a bunch of years.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 30 Posted September 30 31 postseason games for Julio, a little short of this list.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Trot Nixon, legendary president/cross-country champ.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Trot’s only year with the Mets was 2008.

He’s the highest number to have not played at least one postseason game in 1995 or later. Too few games Shawn Green Didn’t play in postseason for Mets Adrian Gonzalez Andres Gimenez Jeff Kent I don’t think he went beyond the NLDS with other teams, but Mike Piazza?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Let's get serious, then. Um ... Octavio Dotel.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Pitchers prolly not on this list but David Cone
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Piazza - 32 Dotel - 26 Cone - 21 No pitchers on the list other than Glavine. Hints: all of these guys had played in the postseason with at least one other franchise before reaching it with the Mets.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Carlos’ only postseason games were the 10 he played with the Mets in 2006. .352/.442/.757 in those 10 games too. Could’ve been NLCS MVP
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Olerud won the 92 and 93 World Series in Toronto. He's gotta be up there.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 30 Posted September 30 That’s our #1 answer. Olerud also had several appearances with Seattle and then also Boston and that other NY team at the end of his career. 1. John Olerud 66 2. Carlos Beltran 65 3. Curtis Granderson 64 4. Rickey Henderson 60 5. Travis D’Arnaud 57 6. 7. 8t. Francisco Lindor 41 8t. JD Martinez 41 10. Darryl Strawberry 40 11. 12. Tom Glavine 35 13. 14. Willie Mays 33. Too few games Shawn Green Bartolo Colon Julio Franco David Cone Octavio Dotel Mike Piazza Todd Zeile Carlos Delgado Didn’t play in postseason for Mets Adrian Gonzalez Andres Gimenez Jeff Kent Justin Turner Trot Nixon

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Yes. Ventura is #11 with 37 career postseason games.

duan Old-Timey Member Posted October 1 Posted October 1 I'm very annoyed at not guessing Olerud and Ventura as they were both players in the era when I became a fan (and a MOFOer) It comes from two misconceptions 1. I associate Olerud with Mets and Seattle - I had no idea he was so long in Toronto - I knew start of the 90s the blue jays were brilliant - but I'd never have thought he was playing then. Seattle were better then I remembered - in my head once Randy Johnson and Ken Griffey disappeared they weren't great, but how wrong was I that turn of the millenium team was brilliant. 2. Robin Ventura - the two good seasons the mets had in 99 & 00 were 24 of his appearances so it only took a flurry of other appearances to make it there. Despite my association of futility (apart from 2005!) with the White Sox they helped push him into the list. They also both had time with the Skankees - and my basic working plan here has been looking for players who were on the yankees or braves at some point and see what I think. Now, back to trying to find them somewhere in my head ...
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Each of our remaining correct answers has exactly one postseason hit for the Mets.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Harrison Bader was on the 2024 team, and was a Cardinal forever and they used to win the Central every year. He's gotta be on the list.

He's gotta be on the list. Harrison Bader played more postseason games with the 2024 Mets than he ever played in his entire time in St. Louis. But he *is* on the list, with 34 career postseason games. And exactly 1 hit for the Mets, in the 9th inning of game 1 of the division series in Philadelphia.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 1 Posted October 1 21 minutes ago, Edgy MD said: Darryl Hamilton Ontario. Darryl had 9 postseason hits for the Mets, none bigger than his two-out double off Robb Nen in the 10th inning of NLDS Game 2 in 2000. Only played in 25 career postseason games.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 1 Posted October 1 21 minutes ago, Edgy MD said: Bobby Blue Bland Bonilla. Correct! 46 career postseason games, for 5 different franchises. His one Mets hit was a pinch hit for Mahomes after Pat’s heroic effort to keep the Mets in the game in Game 6 in 1999.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Yeah! Bobby Bonilla is my new ride-or-die! Mike Bordick Nixon.
