Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 23, 2025 Posted July 23, 2025 The Mets take their four-game streak of wins out west, resting on Thursday before taking on the San Francisco Giants. There'll be seagulls galore, kayakers in a cove, a giant baseball glove, and an opponent who can pitch with anybody but hasn't found any offensive traction for most of the season. We'll have warm reunions with Wilmer Flores, Justin Verlander, Joey Lucchesi (yeah, I said that), and Dom Smith. Freak out to the spectacle of submarining Tyler Rogers in the pen, and TRY NOT TO CRY as Keith enjoys another reunion with his northern California clan — assuming Keith makes the trip.Yes, it is the Mets at the Giants — two teams whose hat insigniae are descended from a common source. The only Major League teams blessed to have been represented by Willie Mays and Tsuyoshi Shinjo. Clay Holmes goes for the Mets against Logan Webb. Get rested up for a 10:15 PM start.[FIMG=550]https://www.bleachernation.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/httpscdn.dataskrive.comapiassetqiO4S94.jpg[/FIMG]
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2025 Posted July 24, 2025 While we're mainly focused on the division race, the Giants are currently the team we're magic numbering for the last wild card spot, so a few wins in San Francisco this weekend will help the Mets' overall postseason chances.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2025 Posted July 24, 2025 July 25 feels like pretty late in the season to be seeing an NL opponent for the first time. This road trip will also be the first time we see the Padres. After this road trip, the Mets have only 6 games remaining out of the Eastern time zone - one series each in Chicago and Milwaukee.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2025 Posted July 24, 2025 Late night baseball is pretty far out of my reach. I'm old and tired.Having said that, this weekend series coincides with a family trip to Boston to do touristy stuff, so at least I will be able to watch the Sunday night ESPN game from our hotel. I expect to miss most to all of tomorrow's game and maybe catch a few innings Saturday night on XM.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2025 Posted July 24, 2025 You'll have a good time on your tripYour family might want to see some of the games when they come on if available Late night games are tough for me without Adderall. Tongue in cheek.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2025 Posted July 24, 2025 I'm having West Coast nightmare vibes , although I think we have been doing better recently
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2025 Posted July 24, 2025 Hopefully, I'll be posting here live…from somewhere a good 7 hours south of SF, all weekend before meeting the Mets on Monday in San Diego!
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2025 Posted July 24, 2025 If I had to guess without looking, I'd say the Mets winning percentage in SF would be around .125. I'd guess we do a little better in LA. And might be above .500 against the Padres.
