metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 today is a day to celebrate this mets season, win or lose tonight.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 A lot of decisions to sleep on. Senga vs. Peterson seems to have already been decided, but Mendoza still has to weigh Álvarez vs Torrens, Iglesias vs. McNichol, Martinez vs. Winker, Bader vs. Taylor, Acuña vs. Anybody, and LL Cool J vs. Kool Moe Dee.
AIMrMet Verified Member Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Pour me another Cold Brew Cuddle Stout. I'm feeling oddly optimistic, pal! Game 5 is all about putting on those big-boy pants and brewing something magical out of desperation. Y'know, like mixing a Flying Froth Dragon Pale Ale with a Splash 'o Drunk Duck Lager – madness that somehow works! No more sloppy pitching, please; I've had enough of that, just like I have had enough of SourOMGface IPA at yesterday's bark crawl gone uncanny.David Peterson, lacing those cleats tight, will start to unbungle this nasty twist of fate, and with luck, squirrels'll assert their dominance! If Francisco Lindor catches fire, and all those infielders play like their hair's actually on fire, we may just see RunScoringPaloozagmentown tonight. And you know what? I still think Pete Alonso can finally hit the sausage and beer into the bleachers like he's mad at 'em, right? We need them home runs like I need an Iceberg Ambit-ale-amber in my hand, ya hear me? 🍻If the crew pulls off seven innings of temporal anomaly-grade defense, while McNeil supplies chaos splashed into every gap by Vientos, then we're gettin' Estrella Knights Brewmares from the bullcrack enjoying extra innings, mark my words! Hapless or heroic, it's about leaving it all out on Citi Field, my dude. 🍻😵✨ So whatcha waiting for, bring on those Blue Blokes in Blue Los Angeles Loses-land, and smash ‘em to oblivion!
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 I'm oddly pumped up after reading AIMrMet nuanced post
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 We have an NLCS game today! There's no guarantee that there will be another one any time soon, so let's enjoy it for what it is. And with luck or with pluck, we'll get to do this again on Sunday.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Is that a Shrinky Dink?
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 it's a custom 3d-printed handheld sign i made to go along with my OMGs. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54058764915_95262b09e7_z.jpg>the YGB is about 4 1/2" x 2 1/2"the little OMG is 5x2, the bigger is 9x4the small signs are a flimsy 1/8" thick while the big guy is a more substantial 3/8"i amde the OMGs during the philly series. they seemed to work. their magic may've run out though, so i printed the ya gotta believe. if i had time, i would print a bigger YGB, but it wouldn't be ready for tonight's game. maybe i need to believe hard enough to have it ready for the LA games. the print quality is kinda poor on the little guys, just because they're fairly irregular shapes, and because i do the top layer in a concentric pattern. there's only so many lines of material you can fit sometimes. the big guy came out really nice. i designed the YGB myself, rather crudely. the OMG was from a readily available file somebody else made and posted to the interwebs.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Impressive! That's even more high-tech than Shrinky Dink!

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Winker displaces Martinez, The McNeil Button is pressed, displacing Iglesias, and Taylor takes the centerfield gig back from Baderhosen. But Álvarez is back out there, even with the commissioner's signature freshly tattooed backwards into his thigh.I'm all in, Carlos.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 I'd like to smack Flaherty around for wearing No. 0 for no good reason
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 48.6% chance to win according to ESPN.I keep telling myself that any baseball team can win any game at any time. Even the White Sox would walk in tonight with a 30% chance.I think we win tonight.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 It was about time to give McNeil a shotGlad to see Vientos in the three hole and Winker in the lineupBe an ace David Peterson LGM
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Not complaining, but I was kind of expecting to see Marte, as our most consistent hitter not named Vientos of late, bumped into the two-hole.Only one not flailing as he swings for the fences, anyhow.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 There's something wrong with me. Elimination game in what couldbe one of my last Mets pennant series. I have zero anxiety. Pulse is87. BP is 119/81... considering calling an ambulance...

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 At the age I'm at, every day is starting to feel like a potential elimination. No point in giving myself a stroke over it — though I'm sure my pressure will rise (and my butt will squeak) if the game is tight in the late innings.Fight, fight, fight, but let there be ice cream for everybody afterwards.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Yesterday's broadcast booth (not sure which character) kept describing the Mets as being particularly up against it because of their intent to throw a "bullpen game" today.Whether Senga or Peterson got the start, it was never intended to be a bullpen game.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2024 Posted October 18, 2024 Sounds like a Smoltz "narrative "
