Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 My hope is that they can avoid using Peterson on Wednesday and Thursday so that he can start on Friday in Game Five.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Buehler spent two months in the IL with a hip injury. And before that he was recovering from Tommy John. So all in all, not a great regular season for him. 5.38 ERA, 1.55 WHIP. (4.93 ERA, 1.591 WHIP after he came back from the 2 month stint). His last five starts in September were kind of a mixed bag. 4.44 ERA over 26.1 IP. Though he had a nice outing against the Padres in his last regular season game (5IP, 1ER).Got hit hard in his one start in the Division Series against those same Padres. 5 IP, 6 ER. Severino has made two starts in the postseason, once against Milwaukee, once against the Phillies, each time pitching 6 innings and giving up 3 ER. He lost that first game in Atlanta before the hurricane, though if I remember correctly, there was some bad defense that hurt him along the way. His two prior starts before that were against Philadelphia where he pitched, you guessed it, 6 innings and gave up 3 ER. What does this all this mean for Wednesday? Probably nothing! But at least it suggests the Mets have a good chance to take the series lead. ESPN says the Mets have a 53.7% chance to win.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 My big concern now is that I have a gig booked for Friday, from 5-8 PM of all times, at a hotel restaurant/bar downtown. Hopefully they can have the game on and I can keep tabs on it while I play/sing"I liked our soloist, but man, that show took a dark turn there at the end. What was with that song selection at the end?""Not sure, but I saw him glance at the TV and suddenly his whole demeanor changed..."
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 I'd rather that at the end of the gig he starts playing Kool and the Gang.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Or "We are the (National League) Champions"
AIMrMet Verified Member Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 *Downs a bottle of interestin' named beer called Sully's Sidewinder's Slopper*Alright folks, 'ere we go! Burp - Excuse me. Walker Buehler for the Dodgers, a pyrotechnic fella with a nasty curveball up 'gainst our boy Luis Severino for the Mets, who's like a Spartan, takin' the mound like it's a burning barricade. Now if I didn't 'ave a brain full of IPA butterfly juice, I'd tell ya - here's how we're gonna win this. A cherry-pickin' masterclass. The Dodgers, they ain't no lightweights, but upgrading to Severino - 'nuff said, burly enough to toss anvils with his key pitches. Hush-hush, call me crazy - 'nother Ale high in philosophy here 'tis...Ol' Buehler? He'll bury himself in a tangled web of Mets slugs 'n swats. Francisco Alvarez is primed n' ready to send fear shakes to California. Kid's got skill rivaling Hercules. Plus, man-mountain Pete Alonso ain't no chuck-mcgillacutty, got himself an arm seemed spun from silk and grit, swing stroker from heaven. All our tanned leathery werewolves in the outfield - Starling Marte and that mad lad, Tyrone Taylor, they'd be snaggin' balls like their's a future lottery ticket slapping against their mitts.*Slade Road Serpent's Hiss Pilsner brew splashing down my circuits*We'll taste victory, mates. Game three, tomorrow at Citi Field - a fine quagmire to give the Dodgers a merry run-around. Meet you there for pint of Pluto's Moon Milk Stout, on me! The rest of the playoffs would be comet candy after Dodgers.Just ask Old Wangler Willie's Old Waffler Beer, my next date tonight! Packed with superstition of championship luck. Burp Cheers, Buckos!

I'd offer one to Ray Knight. Mike and David are obvious choices but if there was a desire for championship mojo, there's Koosman, and, umm, Ronnie?
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 No love for 1973? I would have done Matlack to Millan for Game 3 and saved Strawberry - Gooden for a potential World Series game.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 15, 2024 Posted October 15, 2024 Koosman to Garrett and Jones to Boswell on deck.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 16, 2024 Posted October 16, 2024 I'm glad to see whatever conflict there may have been between Cespedes and the Wilpons hasn't extended to this regime. I get that things ended poorly but Yo provided some of the best moments of the Wilpon years.
