Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 10/5. No more of this "give it your all and decimate your bullpen and then fly a thousand miles and do it again tomorrow" nonsense.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 We're in gravy time now. This is what I had voted for two months ago as "what would it take for you to consider this a successful season" - to me it meant advancing farther and acquitting themselves better than the 2022 squad that limped in and then flopped. So they've done that. But now I want more. I'm greedy. Keep winning, keep playing.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Oh, I agree. It's definitely been a successful season. And yes, I want more.https://media.licdn.com/dms/image/C5612AQFfTZ6KOjlkYg/article-cover_image-shrink_600_2000/0/1520144432088?e=2147483647&v=beta&t=0NH31DCKf2WaFGcLXqI1O6dYxfTViEirOq-59csFYjU>
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 We've been Cranepooling here for 20 years or so and this is as root-root-rooty I've ever seen Ben Grimm. It's like a whole nother side of you!My heart is getting into this run too. What a week it has been
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 I truly believe the Mets can win the whole thing. There are no superteams to run intoSurreal stuff is happening now also and that's the Mets to me
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Courtesy Tim Britton:In the last 3 years, the Mets have faced Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola a combined 15 times. The Mets won 12 of those games.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 I have lots of Philly fan friends and they are scared. They don't like running into a team on a mission. When we were in London on the Tube coming back from the second game in June, we were talking with a few friendly Philly fans on the train. As we got off at our stop I said, 'see you in the playoffs'. We all laughed. Wonder what they're thinking now.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 As much as I'm looking forward to these games, I'm so glad we get an off day. Not just for them, for us. I'm serious. I'm not sure I'm cut out for post-season baseball.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Yes, it's nice to be able to take a breather.I'm remembering how much fun October 2015 was. I've been wanting another month like that. Maybe this will be it.

Maybe this will be it.I definitely don't remember much about individual games or moments from 2015, though I watched every inning of that Mets postseason, but I definitely remember enjoying all of those extra weeks of Mets baseball. More = better
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 I don't either. I remember Utley breaking Tejada's leg, that Game 5 against the Dodgers was especially tense, the homer that Familia gave up against the Royals in Kansas City in Game 1, and Matt Harvey asking to close out Game 5 and not doing it.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Senga will start Game One. Whoa.Severino in Game Two.
cal sharpie Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Love this. Probably a bullpen game of sorts but however long we get will be great.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Senga in a bullpen type game? Great!
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 I like this a lot too. They probably won't reveal how many innings or pitches they hope to get from him, or who might follow him, but this should be really interesting.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Author Posted October 4, 2024 WOW!He must have been working out in more secrecy than the new stealth bomber.Later
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Yeah i like it, especially against wheeler
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 That's a pretty bad ass move!
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Great. Break a leg, Senga. I mean, good luck.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Any chance Baty gets a roster spot over Acuna this round?
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 Zero. Acuna's a better defender/plays more positions and is a faster runner. If Baty makes it it's because of injury or in lieu of an extra pitcher.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 At this point anyway, I'd much rather have Acuna on the roster than Baty.Senga and Megill will replace Kranik and... Brazoban maybe?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 I'd be happy to see 'em both. But obviously, Acuña's versatility, fungibility, athleticism, and (frankly) productivity speak for themselves.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 I think Baty only makes the team if Winkers back is bad.
