Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Played good, smart ball, and stepped up even after a few weeks of benchriding. Insisted he was willing to sit if it helped the team, which was the sort of thing Crash Davis taught Nook Laloush to say whether it was true or not, but was particularly big after it became clear to anyone paying attention that his benching wasn't really helping the team at all.I'd give him a hug if I ever figure out which one is him and which one is Chris Bassitt.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 One of those "good guys to have in the locker room".And it seemed like he deserved those comments.Later
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Loved that he said his name was Portuguese and he wanted to be known by only his last name, Cañha, like a Brazilian footballer and his wife was all, "hell nah, bro."
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 I liked him in 2022. Outperformed himself and was a nice cog to have. A bit more of a dog in 2023 and I'm not too sad to see him go.
Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 All the dumb clichés applied, completely unironically. A pro's pro. Got good at-bats. Could do it all. Really fit in New York. Great veteran presence.Go, Brewers, at least as far as beating out the rest of the NL Central.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Good guy, but ultimately disposable in the scheme of things. Enjoyed his food.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Most Met 19s are corner outfielders that are okay but not great. Church, Bruce, Corey Sullivan. Canha rose above them.Great fit in last year's productive lineup. Less so in a crappy one.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Seemed like a good guy , liked his food , socially conscious, team.player

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 He got hit by a lot of pitches as a Met
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 He always came across as a likeable and classy guy, but he didn't hit particularly well for a starting corner outfielder. You could justify spending modestly on guys like Canha and Escobar if you were getting your money's worth from the big investments, but that's where the problem has been.
dances_w_vowels Verified Member Posted August 1, 2023 Posted August 1, 2023 Of course I have a Canha song. One of my favorites to watch even if he just didn't have a great year this year. bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2023 Posted November 4, 2023 Mark Canha traded to Detroit. I guess he can sample Detroit-style pizza.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2023 Posted November 5, 2023 I always liked Canha. He seemed a decent guy who gave his all every game. I wish him all the best in Detroit.

Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2023 Posted November 5, 2023 For some reason I thought Cahna was a free agent at the end of the season. Why did we deal him if we still had a year? Detroit pizza is *OK.* We are all spoiled be New York pizza.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 5, 2023 Posted November 5, 2023 They dealt his contract hoping for value in return, I suspect — including the added value of that second year or the added value of not being on the hook for that second year, depending on how one might look at it.
