bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 Chris Bassitt takes the mound for the Mets in the biggest game of the season against the Braves and Charlie Morton. Bassitt has two starts against ATL this season, going 1 and 1. He gave up 3 ER in 7 IP on 5/2 (L) and 1 ER in 6 IP on 7/13 (W). Morton, who just signed a big contract extension, is 1 and 2 against the Mets this season. He gave up 4 ER in 5/3 (L), 5 ER in 5 IP on 7/3 (L), and 0 ER in 6 2/3 IP on 8/16 (W). https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-braves/2022/10/02/661465#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=661465https://www.mlb.com/gameday/mets-vs-braves/2022/10/02/661465#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=661465I would move Pete back to 4th in the lineup. If the Mets win they control their NL East fate as they win the season series against ATL so the Magic Number is 3 with 3 games left. It's on ESPN at 7:07 ET and not that weird 7:20 time from the last two nights. #LFGM

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 The Mets winning is them controlling their own destiny, baby.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2022 Author Posted October 2, 2022 Fuck that stupid racist chant. Which they encourage by shutting the lights and letting the fans "chop" while holding their phones. It's cool but it's still racist. And F their attention-seeking organist. And F the guy I know in ATL who just sent me a text with the Braves flag.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 So this us essentially the biggest regular season game for any team this year and ESPN is fortunate enough to have it land in their lap.So given that gift of being able to present this game to the entire country, what percentage of the game will they show with game shrunken via split screens or other interruptions?40 - 60% ?60 - 80% ?More than 80% ?Sorry, those are your only choices.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 Nimmo starts the game with the traditional Mets weak groundball.
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 Haha! McNeil has a dog named Willow
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 And the traditional first inning that could have been better but wasn't.And ESPN is so annoying to listen to. They've already decided the Braves will win both this game and this division.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 Ouch on that strikeout.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 (edited) I'm getting tired of trying to be OK with leaving runners on in the 1st inning via the justification of 'well at least we made their guy throw a lot of pitches ... and maybe that'll pay dividends later on'.Too often it hasn't been paying off. Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 Well, there's that low fastball thing happening again.Cutter, anyhow. Though it didn't cut much.

Nope. They were getting 1 or 2 on the board but now the pitchers often get it together and we look back at it as a missed opportunity. Edited October 2, 2022 by Guest
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 This inning actually perfectly summarizes the entire series thus far.
