I almost didn't recognize him when he was on High Heat earlier. Supposedly

he an MLB 'radio' show which I was not aware of.

Hosmer wound up going to the Red Sox (a team NOT on his no-trade list), so presumably the Padres and Nationals can now get around to finalize this. Or, the Nationals have used the delay to figure out that they are setting their franchise back for a decade and they probably shouldn't do that.

It's unclear to me whether including Hosmer in the deal was supposed to be for the benefit of the Pads or the Nats?

He's having a nice year but is aging, expensive, and likely to get worse by the time the Nats get better. From SD's perspective, it's future payroll relief in anticipation of what Soto will command in the near future but how much if they were eating a big chuck of it?

The two sides will tweak the deal somehow but it'll be a side issue at this point.

In the meantime, he may not hit many HRs in Boston (very high GB rate) but has the kind of LH swing that'll pepper the Green Monster.

I think from the Nats perspective, if SD was paying most of his salary, they would be getting a reasonably costed veteran who maybe could turn things around an provide trade value later, as long as they had nobody else more deserving of the ABs

The Phillies had to give up their 26th best prospect to get Robertson. We gave up at least one better prospect for the difference between Darrin Ruf and J. D. Davis.

Jayson Stark: Phils trade Mickey Moniak (former 1/1 draft pick) plus another prospect for ... Noah Syndergaard.

Yeah, I'm still deeply worried about any current Met playing catcher.

I thought one of the perks of the DH in the NL is that we could avoid giant black holes in the lineup.

Yanx surprisingly deal away starting LH pitcher Jordan Montgomery.

Not that Montgomery is super great but that they don't have a ton of depth there even with the addition of Montas.

Apparently the return if CF defensive whiz Harrison Bader. That allows them to move Judge away from CF and pretty

much pushes the other Aaron, Hicks, to the bench (or out) although Bader is currently injured so not immediately.

(Unfortunately) listening to some WFAN guy a few days ago, he said that Montgomery pitched well the first month of the season and his numbers got worse each succeeding month. I guess they decided to walk away from the table while they were ahead.

The Phillies got better. Robertson, Syndergaard and Marsh are all improvements. And they're getting Harper back soon too, no?

Bader to the Yankees is a homecoming in that he is a local kid (Bronx)
