Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 Poll runs for two days. Let's see how optimistic or pessimistic we are.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 I went 15.1-30. >30 IP just seems like a lot for the dude at this point. I hope I'm wrong like usual.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 I don't think there's enough time left for him to get to 60, but over 30 seems good.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 there's 66ish games left in the season, meaning the available innings left in the season are 69% as many as those already pitched. meaning, for the rest of the season, if someone were to pitch with sandy alcantara's workload (144IP to date) for the remainder of the season, he would pitch 99 more innings. if someone were to pitch to chris bassit's workload (109 IP) for the remainder of the season, he would pitch 75 more innings. it feels safe to say that degrom is unlikely to pitch more than 60 innings, if only because i expect him to come back with something of a reduced workload, but still a workload befitting a nearly full time starting pitcher. david peterson's workload (73 IP) gets him to about 50. i'd be ok with that.

metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 oh. well, the mets will be so completely, utterly dominant in the playoffs that they won't need degrom to pitch enough innings over his regular season total to put him over the 60 inning mark. or they'll get bounced in the first round. or fail to make it. really, are we projecting playoff innings too?
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 I won't believe him until I see him.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 Every inning of every game. Major and minor leagues. You wait.
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 I know I said he was toast but I voted 30-60
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted July 27, 2022 Posted July 27, 2022 I voted for 15.1 - 30 innings. When I saw the title the number that popped in my head was 18 innings. I think he will get in 3-4 starts, before going on the shelf again for some ailment. I don't doubt deGrom's ability at all, but I seriously question his durability.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Whoever voted "won't appear" is out.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Two men say they're Jesus, one of them must be wrong -- Mark KnopflerAnd one of us here is wrong as well.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 9, 2022 Author Posted August 9, 2022 He's now at 10.2. He'll have a chance to move into the next tier in his next start.

whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2022 Posted August 14, 2022 Me too! I am currently quite pleased!

kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 14, 2022 Posted August 14, 2022 16 2/3's, Homey don't play that 16.2 (2/10's) thing.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 The Thirty-and-a-Thirds have been eliminated. We're down to the last two groups!DRAMA!
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 Anybody have Crane bucks riding on this?Later
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 It looks like deGrom should get 5 (maybe 6) more starts. An average of 6 innings per game would put him in the mid-60s.

(Or 36.3333 if you don't like "innings math")Yeah, I don't get Edge's post. 30 1/3 wasn't an end-point in the ranges. 30 is/was,and we're still down to three, not two, groups.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 Sorries. I'm sure I had a coherent point at the time — likely about the elimination of the sub-30 1/3 categories.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 We've reached fitty-four and a third.Sitty is within reach!
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2022 Posted September 19, 2022 Should start Saturday in Oakland, and then again the following weekend in Atlanta. Should reach 60 without issue.
Nick Morabito Syracuse Mets - AAA CF On Tuesday, Morabito went 2-for-4 with a walk. He also stole his 23rd and 24th bases. Explore Nick Morabito News >
