A trading chip? Or trading another catcher? Or a salary dump?

Baseball talking heads warn against trading within your own division, but this seems silly - unless there's more to it.

Vargas has been more than serviceable (yes, I blew my pre-season prediction).

Not 4 nothing but Vargas was pretty reliable this season and giving him to the ailing Phils ain't gonna help us reel them in

I was Tuesday's game where he carved up Tatis Jr. like it was child's play

Yeah, Vargas had his moments, but I can't say as I don't still get the idea that every such moment is the last one.

I like to think that Pete Alonso will hit five homers off him by year's end.

Jason “I'll knock you the fuck out, bro” Vargas is obviously a perfect fit for Philadelphia. Filling the dishonorable shoes of Brett “spelling bee champion” Myers.

Bossart looks like he sucks with the old ash but has a good defensive rep.

Another possible reason for this is that they're keeping Noah.

He reportedly "doesn't like" to pitch to Ramos and maybe the Mets don't think Nido can hold up for the long haul/ pennant race.

Just a thought.

Yabbut for a 26-year-old AA catcher hitting .190? In your div?

Two months of Cabrera got us a borderline top-100 prospect (at least before the TJS) from the Phillies. Hard to see this as selling high. We basically got Nido without the fearsome bat. And we didn't even save a whole lot of money.

Bossart is a 26-year-old catcher with a .195/.303/.335 slash line in Double-A this year. He is a former college teammate of Bradley Wilpon, Jeff's son.

Better than 50-50 he gets a cuppa in September, ala Mike Glavine.

AHA!

But the Wilpons throw nickels around like bowling balls. They actually traded Vargas AND threw in cash to give him a call-up?

Wow!

To think, the entitled shit son of the entitled shit son will one day inherit this team.

Bradley was drafted by the Red Sox out of high school but went to Penn instead where he kind of disappeared, making only five relief appearances in two seasons while attending Wharton.

Jeff was picked twice as a catcher, once out of high school by the Mariners, and a second time by the Expos out of junior college. I believe he signed the second time but never appeared in a game.

Sometimes I feel like Facebook is stalking me. Like, I think it and it ends up in my ads. The Mets are just the opposite. I worry that they will do something really stupid only to find out they are considering it.
