Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 Nothing really surprising, I don't think. Of all of them, I would think that Jamie Callahan had the best chance of going North, especially since it seems that the Mets are planning on an eight-man bullpen.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2018 Posted March 14, 2018 Yah none too surprising. Flexen pitched well, though. See ya in September, David Thompson!
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 15, 2018 Posted March 15, 2018 Yeah, have fun in Binghamton, ya shitass.

Guest d'Kong76 Guests Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 Guess the didn't read my EXPECTYTIONS FOR 2018 post this morning. They will.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 That pretty much finalizes the catching staff and guarantees that Flores Reyes is our fifth outfielder.Only thing up in the air is the back end of the bullpen.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2018 Posted March 20, 2018 Sewald didn't help himself in that regard by blowing up in the 6th inning just now, giving up a single, a walk and a 2-run triple, followed by a Sac Fly.He's still probably going to be on the opening day roster anyway. [u:3eykjq7g]bullpen:[/u:3eykjq7g]FamiliaSwarzakRamosBlevins*-------SewaldRoblesRhameMontero When Vargas returns, they either release Montero or send down Robles, Sewald or Rhame. Gsellman and Lugo start the year at Vegas. When Conforto comes back, one more pitcher will have to go, because i don't believe they'll send Nimmo down at that point.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 The real interesting tidbit is the cutting of the last candidate for second bullpen lefty.Maybe the first week of the season, that job goes to Matzy anyhow.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2018 Author Posted March 23, 2018 Optioned on March 23:C Tomas NidoRHP Hansel Robles
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 Boy, Robles was promising once but made a U-turn somewhere along the way.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 I was hoping that the two new pitching gurus that the Mets hired (the manager and the pitching coach) would find a way to fix Hansel. I guess it may yet happen, but hopes are certainly dimming.

A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 Kinda glad to see this. Mickey said he wants the best arms coming north and Robles isn't one of them now. I don't want to give away games in April while talented dudes try to 'figure it out'.

And he was pissed about just going to the pen. I think Collins would have been very hesitant to do this. The pen, sure, but not a send down during ST.Calloway is a tough love motivator type.I like
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 It's a move that makes sense really. He has options, there are other choices so he's clearly NOT one of the best five right now, and just as clearly he needs some time to figure out what's wrong and prove to them that he can fix it.fwiw, his ML service time currently sits at 4 years + 98 days. So IF he were to be kept down four nearly four months this year then the team would steal themselves an extra year of control as ZW wouldn't beeligible for FA until after 2020 season rather than the current projection of 2019. Otoh, if he pitches poorly enough to warrant working his ass in Vegas for close to 2/3 of the season then when he hits the FAmarket no longer remains a high priority.
