  2. G-Fafif wrote: We're down to 10 Mets who've been on the active roster every day of 2018: Gonzalez Cabrera Rosario Reyes Syndergaard Matz Lugo Familia Gsellman Sewald Or nine, with Syndergaard now on the shelf.
  3. The two that immediately come to mind are Brady Anderson's 1995(96?) 50-HR season, and Davey Johnson's 1969 season, but neither of those fit the qualifications.
  4. Edgy MD wrote: Casey Candele's mother played in the AAGPBA. I knew that! I believe I learned that from one of his baseball cards back in the day.
  5. I think Wheeler still has something there, but I've been done with Vargas since day one.
  6. Gar The Batting Stance Guy here in the ROC tonight. [tweet:2f69jtcq] [/tweet:2f69jtcq]
  7. [crossout:o5yon3va]Is Uehara still around?[/crossout:o5yon3va] Wait, no. Utley.
  8. If could still play anywhere other than first base, I'd say he's a replacement for Reyes. But you're right, I wouldn't be surprised to see him come our way.
  9. Noah Syndergaard (16-0, 0.56) vs Junior Guerra (who cares) Syndergaard struck out eleven guys -- incredibly, all wearing uniform number 42 -- in his start vs Milwaukee in April: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=26836 Guerra has faced the Mets twice. Gave up one Yo HR in a no-decision in 2016, and pitched six shutout innings for a W in a game last year at Citi.

  12. Fman99 wrote: Five runs in one game, is that allowed? I believe this is the first time we've done that since 2012.
  13. Edgy MD wrote: Jason Kipnis so far: .180 / .269 / .258 // .527 with one homer through 202 plate appearances. A -0.7 WAR. What's incredible is that 13 batters have a worse WAR. What's even *more* incredible is that none of them are Mets. (Lobaton is the lowest Met at -0.6.)
  14. Haven't started an IGT yet this season. Let's do this. Brewers coming off their own Arizona sweep, interestingly enough. Steven Matz (1-3, 4.42) vs Zach Davies (2-3, 4.24), in a starting pitcher rematch of the April 13 game: http://leaptoad.com/mets/gamedetail.php?gameno=9041 We were 11-1 after that game, and then everything started to fall apart. Maybe this series can turn the karma back around?
  15. I stopped following him on Twitter a while back because it was mostly crap.
  16. Three additions to the all-time Mets roster this season all bunched together, alphabetically: Miguel Batista (2011, 2012) Buddy Baumann (2018) Ed Bauta (1963, 1964) Gerson Bautista (2018) Jose Bautista (2018) Mike Baxter (2011 - 2013)
  17. Frayed Knot wrote: Did we ever do a complete list? I seem to remember a discussion about trying to 'back-determine' an accurate* accounting of who came in what order going back prior to when we started concocting these annual threads (which, IIRC, was when we started anticipating Mr. 1,000) but I don't remember if we ever really went through with it or, if so, what we might have done with the info. * accurate meaning: based on our self-determined criteria The list exists somewhere, because I used it as a basis for my Mets autographed card book.
  18. Edgy MD wrote: It's sort of that we're not in an era of more crappy teams, but rather that the crappy teams are crappier. Though I tend to think the Reds may be trying to actually compete year in and year out and just desperately unable to assemble a pitching staff. They've had decent young guys through the years who just haven't panned out for them: Latos, Bailey, Leake, Cingrani, DeSclafani, Finnegan, Lorenzen, Straily. This year, it's Mahle, whose era is over 4.50, and Castillo and Romano, who are both over 5.60.

Bill's Brooms open for biz 4 Games: Against the Cubs. Not in first place, but playing at a .568 pace. overrated 2 Games: Against the lowly Orioles. Then... they'll sweep 3 Games: Against the first place Yankees. fuck them 3 Games: Against the first place Braves not by then 4 Games: Against the second place D-Backs who we just swept 4 Games: Against the first place Rockies you're making this up Looks about right. 23-5 stretch (losing the five Vargas starts, natch), probably.
  20. We've got to beat the Marlins like 17 of 19 this year if we want any chance at this thing. Go get 'em, fellas.
  21. Ceetar wrote: seawolf17 wrote: I feel like it has to still count for *something*, though. You can't have an out without someone catching the ball. right but what happens to the ball past when you swing and missed has really nothing to do with you. Right, but I'm not talking about the batter here, I'm worried about the catcher. No catch, no out. Maybe you do away with letting the batter run to first and just count it the same way you do a two-strike foul, then.
  22. The only two players on the Marlins' roster with ABs against Vargas: Cameron Maybin (4 singles in 6 AB) Starlin Castro (3 hits in 8 AB, plus two walks), including 2-4 with two doubles last season
  23. Edgy MD wrote: seawolf17 wrote: Benjamin Grimm wrote: Is Vargas hitting eighth so that they can pinch hit for him and get him out of the game a little earlier? It won't even be Vargas's spot in the lineup by the time it comes up, it'll be Lugo or Gsellman or whoever relieves him after he gives up six runs in the first. Vargas vilifier! Jason jinxer! Southpaw smearer! d'Kong76 wrote: Mets-LH-Jason Vargas (0-3, 13.86)[/bigpurple] Put that a little bigger since you must have missed it.
