  1. sez the internet. Thornton has a 3.16 ERA across Bing (5 starts) and Cuse (2), with decent peripherals. Top prospect, lefty. No confirmation as to whether he's starting or "following" yet (Following is still stupid.)
  2. Big week with Washington and Miami. Last week's 5-1 was nice, this week's 6-1 is *necessary.*
  3. If it was possible to lose 200 games in a season, this team would do it.
  4. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/horseracing/2026/05/14/jose-ortiz-irad-ortiz-jr-edwin-diaz-illegal-cockfighting/90046603007/ Between this and the injury, you'd almost think he *was* still a Met.
  5. I tell you, I'm excited by Ewing. He looks a little old for a rookie, but he's fun to watch.
  6. Oof. At this point, just contract the team and try again in February.
  7. This is a cool but random stat that Gelbs just posted: What a nugget from the great Sarah Langs: Last night, A.J. Ewing became the 19th player with multiple walks and a stolen base in his MLB debut (since the modern SB rule was adopted in 1898). The last player to do that? Carson Benge on Opening Day. It’s the first season that has happened multiple times in the majors since 1904, when Sam Woodruff and Miller Huggins both did it for Cincinnati.
  8. RF Benge SS Bichette LF Soto 1B Vientos DH Melendez 3B Baty 2B Semien CF Ewing C Alvarez Peralta on the bump.
  9. Does Ewing look like Al Leiter here? A little bit? I can't unsee it.
  10. Andy Ibanez and his .000 / .000 / .000 stat line are DFAed to make room.
  11. Yeah, I love these kinds of signings. Someone's gotta play these games, and it's fun to see guys get the call to MLB affiliated organizations.
  12. Yeah, let's go. Time for the youth movement. It'll be ugly at times, but give us something to look forward to!
  13. Agree with those who think we don't need any special recognition.
  14. Also, Mets on getaway days in 2026: 2-7. The two wins were the last game in San Fran back when we were good, and the last one in Anaheim or wherever the Angels technically call home now.
  15. I forgot to assume that some combination of Peterson and Manaea are "following."
  16. Looks like we've got Huascar Brazoban "opening" (this will never not be stupid) against lefty Eduardo Rodriguez. Rodriguez whooped us at Citi Field last month, in game two of the famous Twelve Game Losing Streak That Ruined Everything. No lineups posted as of press time.
  17. He had a remarkable track record of success. He won 99 games in his last season with the Jays in 1985, too, before moving back to Atlanta to build that team.
  18. We knew this team was all "ifs" coming into the season. What's sucked is that EVERY one of the "ifs" collapsed in the first two weeks. But in Cow's defense, I did read a bunch of opening day stories that had us as one of the top three teams in the league. So maybe not that huge, and maybe not in places like this where we know better, but there were definitely expectations. I also had to google Rafael Ortega to make sure Cow didn't make him up.
  19. Yeah, the Kimbrel Era should be over.
  20. I mean, Scott was almost tongmcleanesque with our excitement in 2024. Dude came in very hot, then got hurt, unfortunately. He got called up last minute, was a little jumpy, and couldn't throw strikes the first time out. He's still a work in progress, but he's definitely something.
  21. "Am I right in thinking there's no talent on this team?" "Um... no." "Then there is someone talent on this team?" "Sorry, I said 'no' meaning 'yes'." "'No' meaning 'yes'? Look, I want a straight answer, is there talent, or isn't there, yes, or no?" "No." "No there is, or no there isn't?" "Yes."
