So Melendez is good enough to bat third, but also bad enough that we absolutely have to pinch-hit for him late in the game against a lefty, no matter what happens. Got it.

I wonder about this too, actually. I mean, it's a bridge you're going to have to cross when Lindor comes back, but if it gets him comfortable and gets his bat moving, then yeah, let's go.

My first year in radio was spent in a tiny radio booth in downtown Rochester, plugging in local commercials during the MFY simulcasts in the summer and fall of 1996. Every game was absolute torture, as you might imagine. But I know how I felt when Bob Murphy died, so I totally understand MFY fans who are feeling it today.

I don't think it's as much a matter of "what" as "why." We have a perfectly good Christian Pache and Vidal Brujan and heck, even Jihwan Bae is hitting.

Go young. Let's go crazy: Melendez - Morabito - Benge across the outfield (Melendez is only 27 - let's ride this train) Bichette - Mauricio - Semien - Clifford across the infield (we know Semien isn't going anywhere) Alvarez/Torrens Soto DH (and LF when we feel like it) Bench: Pache, Brujan, Taylor, I guess? Rotation is Peralta, Holmes, McLean, Scott, Tong in some order. Bullpen is Williams, Myers, Brazoban, Weaver, Raley, Kimbrel, Pintaro, Minter. That's your 26. End the Baty and Vientos experiments. We tried, fellas. Trade them for spare parts and call up Pache and Brujan. If you can trade Peralta and Holmes for exciting young arms this summer, go for it. Eat the salaries of Manaea and Peterson and call up Pintaro and Minter, who appears to be ready. I'm excited about how AJ Ewing has started in Syracuse, and I could probably be convinced to swap him in for Semien and let Semien serve as a pinch-hitter. I don't know that Kimbrel needs to be here either at this point, so you could DFA him whenever the first bat comes back from the DL.

If we're going to suck, let the kids play. I'd rather get excited about a young Nick Morabito maybe hitting .180 then watching 34-year-old Austin Slater ground out weakly to second base in a big spot.

My biggest problem with the site is that the team sucks now, and we *didn't* suck quite as bad before the move.

I just want someone with a pulse. Some energy. Give me a guy who's going to put his ass in the jackpot, for chrissakes. Something goes wrong on this team and we get a camera cut to Mendy going ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ every time.

You can carry a defense-only catcher - even win with one - if the rest of the team didn't swing wet noodles.
