Oh, wait... you meant the other guy.
  2. Or "Yup©."
  3. ="soupcan"] [keithhernandez]Why is there a woman in a uniform? What the hell is she doing there? And the fat kid! And the little hippie kid in the center! Some things just have no place on the baseball field.[/keithhernandez]
  4. Jeopardy, Familiy Feud, then probably more TV. Ah, the life of a young parent.
  5. This is something I will never, ever, ever, ever understand, and I blame Tony LaRussa and Dennis Eckersley for the downfall of baseball as we know it. So Willie brings Wagner in the game in a "non-save" situation. Hey, folks, guess what? He blew the fucking game. That's a blown save in my book. If you come in up eight runs and give up eight runs, then you blew the goddamn save. It seems like these "closers" get it in their effing heads that they are so effing special that they can't come in unless it'll benefit the "SV" column on the back of their baseball card. Well, guess what, Billy? You created an effing save situation by walking the effing ballpark. So once you're in the effing save situation that you effing create, effing un-create it. Poor Pedro Feliciano comes into a practically unsaveable save situation and is tagged with a "BS" even though that's BS and you know it. You should petition the official scorer to have that BS removed from Pedro's record and slapped into your 2006 game log so the whole world can see it. Argh.

  7. Yesterday was "Autograph Day" at Citibank Park, so MiniWolf got to go onto the field on his first ever trip to the ballpark. He got autographs from a handful of guys, including Bucky & H-Rod, and enjoyed meeting his first Mets hero: It got cold and rainy, so we split early. Ducks won 9-7 largely thanks to a Henry Rodriguez fourth-inning grand slam.
  8. Weird... I just got back from the library, and I had both books (Fountainhead and Shrugged) in my hand for a few minutes, because I was totally bored with what I've been reading and wanted something different. Good thing I changed my mind, apparently.
  9. I gave it an 8. It's one of my second-tier "Favorite Movies Of All Time." I laugh my ass off every single time.

  12. Good thing we're facing Randy Johnson tonight instead of a real major league pitcher.
  13. ="KC"]So if that's indeed the game, our beloved Mets went out with a bang ... http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B07310NYN2002.htm Pitching two innings in relief in that game for Houston was Brandon Puffer, perhaps best known for this Topps baseball card:
  14. ="soupcan"]I could be 100% wrong (and more times than not I usually am) but I seem to recall that The Mets were actually creeping very close to .500 finally in the late '80s. Sometime in '89 after this horribly juvenile logo was bandied about on every souvenir they could fit it on (I have a pair of socks still in the plastic with this ugly thing on them). Dude... my uncle, one of the guys for whom I named my newborn son, designed that logo.
  15. Sometimes we even act our age, don't we? I've been here about a year and a half, and I've had a lot of fun. Thanks to the mods for keeping this place afloat.
  16. I'd give Sanchez an A-; he's struggled recently. And you can't give Valentin a C+ for two or three good games when he's been awful every other time out. He's a D at best.
  17. This team drives me fucking crazy every single day.
  18. I was under the impression that the following were sorta truths: (a) They started with Bannister in the rotation and Heilman in the bullpen because they liked the overall staff that way. ( They "said" (did they? maybe I'm making this up) that Heilman wouldn't slide into the rotation unless there was "some sort of extended absence." How much more extended would they like to get? Send Lima somewhere, anywhere, as far away as possible. Like Peru (get it?). Slot Heilman in for a bit, and if you want to give Jeremi Gonzalez another start or two, okay. But you have two big holes and nobody to fill them. I don't see how this is even a question. Heath Bell can certainly give you what Heilman does out of the bullpen.
  19. Seems like the Mets lose on Getaway Day a lot.
  20. This guy is so taguchi. He might just be the taguchiest player in baseball.
  21. Centerfield wrote: Spezio with a big FU to the CPF for celebrating Pujols' day off. Would that be a "CPFU"?
  22. F Lima. I'd rather let Jose F Valentin pitch.
  23. ="PatchyFogg"]="seawolf17"]And Jerry Manuel has been ejected from the game. Maybe he was tired of watching Lima and just decided to start cursing at Tim Welke. With his free time and how long a day it looks like it's gonna be, he can check out the Gateway Arch and the Bowling Hall of Fame. Or perhaps he can go find a Little League team somewhere who will be willing to take on Lima in a trade.
