There's enough interest here for me to continue the tradition into its fourth year, thereby giving somebody a shot at unseating three-time champion David Wright. No problem. I'm giving Ramon Castro six points every game, whether he plays or not. Intangibles, baby.
  2. Benjamin Grimm wrote: So far the reaction seems rather lukewarm. It's been less than an hour... I'd say we wait for more responses. I'm down with it. I didn't vote a lot last year, but with the HD thing, I think we'll be watching a lot more games, so hopefully I'll jump in more. I like it; it's a unique Pool thing that we do, and I'd hate to lose it.
  3. Armando's always been kinda round.
  4. For any of you on Facebook, there's a nice Scrabble game on there.
  5. Yanks sign Billy Crystal (I know, I know, Garth Brooks. At least Brooks was in his prime.)
  6. They don't have the "proven" factor yet, though.
  7. Awesome story. Left out, of course, is the fact that he could probably get 200 ABs with the Pirates.
  8. #20. You figure 29, since he's the 29th president, but he likes 20 because he was elected in 1920. Eliot Spitzer.
  9. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: According to the Internet this game is scoreless in the 6th. Santana went 4 IP, 4 K, 2 hits, Matt Wise 2 IP, 2 hits. Mets have 3 hits, 2 by Brady Clark. Delgado 0-2 with 2 K's (Lester) Can't trust everything you read on the internet. Word from tmz.com is that Santana not only has a perfect game through six, he also broke some Yankees single-A catcher's wrist by barreling into him at home plate, and was seen canoodling with Lindsey Lohan between innings. Scandal!
  10. Might this be the biggest CPF gathering ever? Certainly the largest since I've been around.
  11. Unless Oliver Perez counts, they don't have any. Maybe they get half credit for bringing a Reyes, but it's the wrong Reyes.
  12. Seriously? I like how the Mets are telling MLB to go eff themselves with their "bring four starters" thing.
  13. Just in time! Bought a nice 42" HDTV last weekend.
  14. Kase, what level seats are you buying? I can front you money for our seats if you'd like. Is this a Bronze game? Value game? Silver game? I have no idea of the pricing levels, and I can't seem to find them on the site.
  15. He's a big fan of the Village People. I meant to say that he's the clutchest guy you've ever met.
  16. Out for the Zone, but still in for May 31.
  17. How about 79 for Swan? I'll keep guessing.
  18. Craig Swan? He pitched on bad teams. I'll guess 1980.
  19. I thought there was a "no pegging" rule. But maybe that's just wiffle ball.
  20. Lawton was my first guess without even looking at the choices, but Alomar makes a lot of sense.
  21. He has to pitch to at least one batter. That's why the pinch-hitter-for-the-pinch-hitter thing happens.
  22. metirish wrote: ="Frayed Knot"]3 scoreless (2 Hits) for Pelfrey. Oh, and Ramon Castro has a triple. That would seem impossible, how did he get the triple? The left fielder died on his way to catch the ball.
  23. Apparently nothing.
  24. I always wonder about this during spring training. Are there no doctors in Florida that can help? In a state that 90% retirees, there isn't a single reputable MRI machine? Yet you see guys fly back to New York for these things from time to time. If the guy's got a bum hip, why stick him on a plane for three hours? Wouldn't it make more sense to just do it locally?
