  1. Johan: "Not going to score me any runs tonight, fellas? Then eff you, I give up six. Teach you a lesson."
  2. Edgy DC wrote: Dickey at 0-3. Wow. Well, look how high his ERA is! No wonder he can't win games.
  3. Yeah, that definitely read wrong. Tickets still available; wife and daughter have been claimed.
  4. Benjamin Grimm wrote: He injured his knee while pushing a shaving cream pie into somebody's face? That is the stupidest injury in the history of injuries.
  5. I guess someone took away the Royals' 2006 copy of the Baseball Register and plugged in their computers. Dang; so close.
  6. Have four seats -- courtesy of metfairy -- available for tomorrow night's game. Wife is sick, daughter is now sick, so I'm putting them up for sale. Really really really want to go, but I'd feel like a dick abandoning my family to go. Face value is $25, and metfairy can send you e-tickets so you don't even have to worry about coming all the way to Stony Brook to pick up tickets. Keep in mind that I could also be convinced to sell three of them and meet some of you there, especially if one of the three people is a divorce attorney. (As you can tell, I'm conflicted here, because I really want to go.)
  7. And the turnaround begins. Here we come, National League.
  8. I'd trade the top five, but not Pelfrey.
  9. Six summers ago, I was at Shea for young David Wright's first major league hit. Tomorrow night, I will be at Citi Field for the debut of our new managing/coaching team, the group that will lead us to Valhalla in October. I'm the answer, folks. ME.

At this point, even though nominal pitching is available, I would have no problem with him standing pat and saving any chips we have for 2011. If anything he could add to that prospect pile by trading useless luxuries like K-Rod. A GM with stones would. Back up the truck, baby.

Hell, I'd rather dump guys and try to bring back even a middling prospect or two. Seems like those have been the guys who have given this team any oomph and have been any fun to watch.
  12. Leave Guillen/Castillo out of it. Perez/Francoeur for Meche/Farnsworth. I'd probably do that.
  13. Unfortunately, yes. They'll get five out of six this week at home so we're all excited about going down to play the Braves and Phillies, at which point they'll lose five out of six again. Eff you, Mets. Eff you.
  14. Dang, I wish those guys weren't both dead, because that SN cover would look really cool autographed.
  15. Fergie Jenkins was a Ranger? I call shenanigans.
  16. Ms. Wolf and I will apparently be there by ourselves on Tuesday.
  17. And that's why. Fuckin' hell.
  18. There are few things more baseballially terrifying than turning on the game for the first time and seeing Oliver Perez on the mound in the bottom of the 13th.
  19. Rusty Greer is the outfielder.
  20. Tom Grieve is the new member. Juan Gonzalez is the OF?
  21. There would be something gloriously macabre about the legendary pinstripes if, say, three or four more greats were to pass during the season.
  22. Breaking: Darth Vader is, in fact, a MFY fan. http://threevillage.patch.com/articles/east-setauket-bank-robbed-by-costumed-thief Police are investigating a robbery late Thursday morning at Chase Bank at 4080 Nesconset Highway in East Setauket in which an armed man wearing a Darth Vader helmet and cape fled after receiving an undisclosed amount of money. An eyewitness said the thief had a "young voice," as if he were in his late teens or early 20s, and was about six feet tall. She said the thief stashed the money in a drawstring backpack with a New York Yankees logo and ran after punching a muscular male customer who tried to intervene.
  23. Could you imagine? Especially getting only five innings out of the starter? Jerry would have burnt the entire pen by the tenth, and we would have been stuck with Raul Valdes. Yikes.
  24. Can't answer, as I cheated and looked it up. Your earlier clue wasn't terribly helpful, considering he played in another league and in another country, although accurate.
  25. Article I read said that in 2006, Bochy pointed out the same thing in a game, also by the Dodgers.
