  1. Only 33; you're right, I'm surprised he's not still playing too. Although his current gig isn't a bad one. I think any one of us would trade jobs with him.
  2. I'm with Voltaire: If Mr. Met did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him. Absolutely. I think I love Mr. Met more than I love anyone outside of my immediate family. So... you lied to me? Hey, you're the one who said you met another me and never told me anything about the context.

  4. I always think of the fake-to-third-throw-to-first move as "The Wendell."
  5. RA loads the bases with nobody out, then goes strike strike strike strike strike strike popout and just like that, the O's fail to score. Can we play these guys 19 times a year like the Yankees do?
  6. Carter wanted, need, and lusted all over that one into the right field bleachers. Good thing Guthrie's a righty. 4-0 good guys.
  7. It's raining in Baltimore, baby. But everything else is the same. There's a shifty little Elvis-themed Mexican place there that goes way beyond expectations... found it: http://www.nachomamascanton.com/
  8. Gwreck wrote: In all seriousness, I agree with Fman that it's probably better to miss him and just get the the crappier pitchers instead but part of me also wants the Mets to be the one to deliver his first whooping of the season. Oh, screw that. By then, I want us to deliver his LAST whooping of the season, to the point where they realize he's not ready yet. I don't want him to be 5-0, 1.80 when he gets to us; I want 1-4, 6.80.
  9. Or, more importantly, does he leave the cake out in the rain?
  10. I love Def Leppard; probably one of my ten favorite bands of all time. Actually, there was a blond girl in Poison's "Ride The Wind" video who I remember fondly as well.
  11. Finally, in Round 40, a Seawolf: Justin Echevarria to the Padres. http://www.goseawolves.org/sports/m-basebl/spec-rel/060910aac.html
  12. Only eight NLers have had enough PAs/IPs to qualify. Pitchers: Jaime Garcia, STL -- 5-2, 1.47 through 11 starts Mike Leake, CIN -- 5-0, 2.22 through 11 starts Batters: Jason Heyward, ATL -- .271/.397/.510, 10 HR, 40 RBI Ike Davis, NYM -- .259/.355/.462, 7 HR, 19 RBI Josh Freese, STL -- .313/.381/.443, 4 HR, 32 RBI The other three -- Ian Desmond, Gaby Sanchez, Alcides Escobar -- have been good, but not better than any of those five. Heyman didn't do that much research, but he might be right on that specific nugget.
  13. I want, and I need, and I lust.
  14. Pelfrey 6 Reyes 2 Davis 2
  15. Can we politely ask the Padres to trade Mujica to the Phillies?
  16. My mancrush on Mike Pelfrey rivals my former mancrush on David Wright and Jose Reyes. You want to face Santana and Pelfrey four times in a seven-game series in October? NO YOU DO NOT. Now go get Big Pelf a fucking W, fellas. Going to the bottom of the ninth; Throb to lead off with a walk-off HR.
  17. So big and so purple, in fact, that it caused young David to throw that ground ball into right field. Boo, David. Boo. Gary Cohen just referred to Nick Hundley as the "Gustavo Molina of Hundleys." Brilliant.
  18. Must be something wrong with my TV. It says that Pelfrey's still pitching, but it's the ninth inning. Is Jerry off in the clubhouse watching Strasburg?
