  1. Just off Vic's list, I've seen pretty much the kid movies (Lorax, Brave, Paranorman, Ralph), plus The Hunger Games. Want to see Ted, Vampire Lincoln, Hobbit, and Django. (We don't do movies much.)
  2. Word on the webs is that Tim Raines has been hired as a coach by Toronto. Could he make Reyes even better? Interesting.

  4. No. Flores, Syndergaard, Duda.
  5. I'm really surprised that the Braves would go there.
  6. I just saw this elsewhere. Stunned. Freel and I share a birthday; we're the exact same age.
  7. Ashie62 wrote: Jonathan Sanchez threw a no-no Has too much of an Oliver Perez smell to him. Pass.
  8. The 7 Line just posted a photo of the new blue jerseys, DICKEY 43 on the back, marked down to $20 at Modell's. I'd absolutely buy that.
  9. Love that. The best part might be Nickeas (?) just closing his eyes and hoping it hits his glove.
  10. Would Roy Oswalt take another one-year, $5 million deal? I'd do that.
  11. MFS62 wrote: Closing in on lefty pitcher Dick Littlefield (9 teams). Later Your leader? Octavio Dotel, 13.
  12. Edwin Jackson four years, $52 million to the Cubs.
  13. I miss Jesse Orosco. Wonder what he's up to these days.
  14. I'm not justifying the tweet by any means, but fuckall if I know why anyone would want to play in this town sometimes.
  15. Knuckleballer, IIRC.
  16. Saw a post or a tweet somewhere this morning about Coco Crisp. Not the ideal solution, but I'd take him.
  17. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Fly to Squinty. http://archives.cranepoolforum.net/6400/f2_t6464.shtml A true CPF classic. I'll always associate Nickeas and Thole with Ellie's obsession with them on Twitter. She's the fangirliest of fangirls.
  18. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Douchy Mets fans ran him off Twitter, then hated him for not hanging around on Twitter and taking it. Still time for him to hit .300 but really needs to mix in the doubles. I liked him in No. 30. Like a backup goaltender. All of this.
  19. Frank Pastore was one of those guys who was in every pack of cards I opened from 1983-1987.
  20. Vic Sage wrote: The Mets will probably sign a couple of those journeyman type minor league contract rehabilitation projects, that strategy hasn't worked out too badly for them in recent years. Like that guy without the ligament in his arm! What ever happened to that guy?
  21. Really wanted the best for him, but I guess sometimes it just doesn't pan out. His b-r "similar by age" comparisons show an interesting trend line. 24. John Lackey (992) -- 128-94, 4.10 career despite an awful 2012; won a World Series 25. Jason Schmidt (985) -- three-time all star, twice in the top 4 in Cy voting 26. Johnny Marcum (982) -- finished 20th in the MVP voting in 1935, out of baseball by age 29 27. Todd Stottlemyre (981) -- productive, if never excellent, major league starter 28. Luis Leal (977) -- led AL in losses in 1981, out of baseball at age 28
  22. Ashie62 wrote: If the Mets were working with a big market budget this would be a helluva lot easier. True, but even if the Mets were working with a big-market budget, I'd make this deal. Because then you put Dickey's $13-15 million a year toward another pitcher who's not 40 years old, PLUS you get a young catcher and another top young arm out of the deal.
  23. Ceetar wrote: they couldn't afford to let an asset go un-cashed. Well, not for nothing, but they almost can't. So they're not.
  24. I like to think of "Pow! You've been fmanned!" as the last lyric of that song.
