  1. Rangers, but the Blue Jays are a good backup plan. I have good friends in both fan bases and that would make it doubly enjoyable for me. Yuck the Fankees and if I had my druthers, they'd never make the playoffs ever again.
  2. Headed to Cubs-Brewers in Milwaukee tonight. Buzzed Monk on FB in hopes he can make it.
  3. Benjamin Grimm wrote: They're selling tickets before they know which games the Dodgers will be hosting? How does that work? If you buy tickets for Game 1, would they translate to Game 3? And I guess if you buy Game 5 in L.A. and it's played in New York instead, you'd get a refund. I'm pretty sure that's exactly how it works. You're getting tickets for the third game in that stadium, if and when it happens.
  4. I got Bartolo, which is pretty dead-on. http://m.mlb.com/cutfour/2015/09/30/151934550/which-met-are-you-quiz
  5. This is brilliant.
  6. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Why are we laughing at teams that have been eliminated? You must have noticed that this happens to the Mets virtually every year. But NOT THIS YEAR, BABY.
  7. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Who the heck is pitching? Number 0 Adam Ottavino.
  8. Benjamin Grimm wrote: For 14 position players: D'Arnaud, Plawecki, Duda, Murphy, Johnson, Flores, Tejada, Uribe, Wright, Cespedes, Conforto, Granderson, Lagares, Cuddyer. This seems like a virtual lock, so I have to figure on 11 pitchers. Of those, DeGrom, Harvey, Syndergaard, Matz, Familia, Clippard, Reed are definites, which means you've got four spots from Colon, Niese, Robles, Gilmartin, Parnell, Goeddel, Torres, and Verrett. If I had to guess, I'd say Colon, Niese, Gilmartin, and Verrett, but I could see them keeping Robles over one of the starters.

  10. Orioles RH Tyler Wilson (2-2, 3.72 ERA) vs. Nationals RH Tanner Roark (4-6, 4.73) I suspect that the number of MLB games started by pitchers named Tyler and Tanner in the 21st century have already surpassed those amassed by SPs with those names for the entire 20th. Had to check. TANNER: Only three total MLBers with the given first name "Tanner." Roark, Tanner Scheppers (currently pitching for Texas), and Tanner Joe Meyer, who went by Joey while whomping home runs and striking out in the late 80's for Milwaukee. Note: Was not actually a "future star" at all, as it turned out. Can't win 'em all, Topps. TYLER: 26 total given first name "Tylers" in MLB history. Only three of them played in the 1900s, and all three of them post-1993 (Tyler Green, Tyler Houston, Ty Van Burkleo).

  12. Hey, Heilman wasn't all bad. I'm sure he struck out a guy once or something.
  13. 2016 NL Rookie of the Year Travis Jankowski will be in Arizona with the Peoria Javelinas.
  14. What's that? FOUR minor league championship rings this year? Nice work, fellas. Majors: Nathan (Detroit): Still recovering from TJ surgery. Koehler (Miami): 10-13, 3.90. Two starts left. Tropeano (Angels): 2-2, 5.06. Two starts left. Jankowski (San Diego): 13-59 so far, but did hit his first major league home run. Still the frontrunner for the 2016 NL ROY award. Minors: Cantwell (AAA Texas): Was awful offensively, but was called up to AAA for the stretch run anyway. Tissenbaum (A+ Tampa): .257/.337/.318 for the year. Won Florida State League championship. Rakkar (A+ Chicago): 3-3, 2.96 with 16 saves. Won Carolina League championship. Campbell (A+ Dodgers): 0-4, 4.05 in 40 innings with three teams. Won California League championship. Krause (A Pittsburgh): Injured all year. MacEachern (A- Miami): 2-0, 2.86, 27 K in 22 IP. Zamora (A- Pittsburgh): 1-0, 2.66, 25 K in 20 IP. Won NY-Penn League Championship. and: McNitt (Houston): Retired this summer.
  15. Once again, no worries. WE'VE GOT THIS.
  16. Ceetar wrote: He hasn't been the same since Stony Brook alum Tom Koehler drilled him in the hip. Perhaps there's an injury there that he's been getting over. /ignores CPF until Cespedes hits another home run so see you tonight around 7:20? He's back. We're good.
  17. Back on the train, friends. Good W.

  19. If this happens in Game 1 of a playoff series, I would literally fear a riot.
  20. Gwreck wrote: With a loss tonight, the Mets would be 31-13 since August 1. Seems pretty good. EXCEPT, when that is broken down: 1-5 against teams that will make the playoffs*. 5-0 vs Washington (the only non-playoff-bound but above-.500 opponent). 25-8 against teams that were making October plans weeks ago. I fully believe the Mets will make the playoffs but I am terrified of a 3-0 or 3-1 drubbing in the first round. *Assumes they don't come back against the MFYs tonight You're right, but this team is still playoff bound, and that's all that matters right now. Use the next two weeks to get the guys you need in the shape you need them when the bell tolls.
  21. This isn't Boras's fault. This is all on Terry & Sandy. Let the fuckin' guy pitch, fellas.
  22. TransMonk wrote: my preference for Harper: coachinng baseball at the College of Southern Nevada, after he gets a lifetime ban from MLB for being such a huge throbbing penis. This. He'd be like "where's my Scenic West Athletic Conference Championship ring?" That's a clown question, bro.

My preferences for Harper Mets Any non Yankees AL East team. Any AL West team. Any AL Central team. Any NL West team Any NL Central team. Yankees Marlins Phillies/Braves/Nationals I would so very much hate to root for Bryce Harper. But I would do it if necessary.
  24. Here's Jim Leyritz, celebrating the fact that he was somehow acquitted of running over and killing a woman while drunk: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5829184
