  1. The CALL-UP thing started midseason. I've seen a few.

I'm torn between wanting a sweep and wanting it settled versus wanting a split so the Mets can takeover the first spot. I'm here too. I think I'm rooting for sweep, because that's potentially a four-game swing.

  4. Edgy MD wrote: stumbling across his daughter's college athlete bio How on earth does someone just stumble across that? You're hilarious. Centerfield wrote: As for Wally himself, he never seemed that bright to me. And all things considered, I'd like to have a bright guy at the helm. But that being said, from their announcing gigs, Lou Pinella and Dusty Baker seemed pretty dumb to me, and it's hard to argue against their record as managers. So what the fuck do I know. Also, pretty much all of this.
  5. End-of-the-minors-season update! Majors: Koehler (Miami): 9-11, 3.97 in 29 starts. Hasn't won a game in a month. Tropeano (Angels): 3-2, 3.56 in 13 starts. Will miss 2017 with TJS: http://www.ocregister.com/articles/scioscia-728549-right-angels.html Jankowski (San Diego): .243/.334/.313 in 344 PA. 4th in NL with 30 steals. Went .308/.374/.385 in August, playing every day. Nathan (Giants): Three scoreless innings for the Cubs, then got cut, then signed with Giants. Blew the save the other night, but he's been pretty good, considering he's 41. Minors: Cantwell (AAA Texas): .262/.327/.306 in 202 PA. Ended season on the DL. Zamora (A Pittsburgh): 3-2, 3.46 in 39 innings. 45 Ks. Ended season on the DL. MacEachern (A Miami): 2-1, 3.79 in 38 innings across two levels. Krause (A- Pittsburgh): .273/.400/.369 in 176 AB, coming back from TJS. Honahan (R MFYs): 2-0, 2.48 in 29 innings. 0.97 WHIP.
  6. Really enjoyable movie, and not just because a Jack Russell is the main character.
  7. Lefty Specialist wrote: Did they have to drop anyone from the 40-man to fit him in? Ruggiero to the 60.
  8. Nevin Ashley, husband of Ashley Ashley, to Texas for $ as well.
  9. Mets Guy in Michigan wrote: I don't have a problem cheering for him as long as this appears to be something that is not a continuing issue. Where am I wrong? This. I'm honestly enjoying having him back, as conflicted as I am.
  10. I had hernia surgery in 2008 and I have had ZERO major league at bats since. This does not bode well.
  11. Walker: 3-10, four BB d'Arnaud: 7-17, homer Reyes: 1-3, homer Cabrera: 3-7, homer Cespedes, somehow, has not homered off TK yet even though everyone else in the league has.
  12. G-Fafif wrote: Kenny Greer. You haven't heard the last of him! Greer, of course, best known as The Rochester Red Wing Who Caught My Ceremonial First Pitch In 1997.
  13. I'm afraid to guess wrong. But... Terry Leach?
  14. COME ON PEOPLE. [bigpurple:uz8zcaju]YA. GOTTA. BELIEVE.[/bigpurple:uz8zcaju]
  15. Lefty Specialist wrote: You can play with numbers all you want, but realistically they have to sweep the Cards. Just don't see it happening. THAT IS NOT A CAN-DO ATTITUDE.
  16. MFS62 wrote: HahnSolo wrote: Torre…Braves, Cardinals, Yankees/ The list for Torre does not include the Mets - on merit. (actually, lack thereof) Later LOL! This is a really interesting quiz. Well done, Steve. I'm intrigued by the number that was retired/un-retired/re-retired.
  17. Zvon wrote: Now they are selling limited sets. The ToppsNOW stuff must be doing well. Maybe everything will be limited down the line. This says BUNT. Does that mean its only a virtual set? http://www.topps.com/collectibles/trading-cards/topps-crossover.html/ Cespedes is in the set but I'm not biting. [fimg=300]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CqVQxeGWAAAy3ng.jpg[/fimg] It's a physical version of the digital cards. But still -- pass.
  18. Had an early dinner with the fam tonight, and they turned on the game in the bar. My daughter asked if they were at Citi Field, and I said, "No, they're in San Francisco. And the stadium there is really nice, because the water is right over the fence, and if you hit a home run out to right field, it could land in the water." Which Denard Span did, literally five seconds after I said that. That was eerie.
  19. Council Rock is it. No, it's nothing to look at, but the beer was good and I really enjoyed the reuben.
  20. There's another microbrewery -- something Hill? -- just south of town. Good restaurant attached too. The Holiday Inn Express just south of town is brand new, nice, and reasonably priced.
  21. Also, TK in his last five starts: 3-0, 1.36 in 33 innings.
  22. Edgy MD wrote: Hate to say it, but Jankowski sure looked like a player. Now that he's getting a chance, he's really running with it, no pun intended. A .365 OBP would put him 24th in the NL if he qualified, and he's fourth in the league in steals. .340/.441/.400 in August, too. As soon as he learns to hit lefties, he's going to be bananas.
  23. G-Fafif wrote: G-Fafif wrote: I'm still trying to tell the Ramirii of 2012 apart. We had more than one Ramirez? Ramon and Elvin, though you rarely saw them on the same mound at the same time. I call shenanigans that either one of them existed.
