  1. Oh good I was looking for more reasons to hate guys who wore that uniform, this works out nice for me.
  2. This makes sense to me - we've seen Alvarez and Vientos both struggle to put together successful seasons consecutively (though Vientos is finally making his case in August).
  3. The one guy not wearing big stupid oven mitts on the bases
  4. I'm sure that whatever he comes up with it'll be a colossal butt **** to baseball fans.
  5. Short for damn ****ing awful I reckon. He dominated here in Syracuse. Like it matters tho
  6. I think I've seen him 3-4 times this year here in the Cuse. He's got the stuff. I am hopeful.
  7. It is the greatest music concert film ever made and I won't hear arguments to the contrary. I'm a huge fan of the Band and even having listened to many different renditions of these songs, the ones in this movie are very often the best versions. I play a number of these songs at my gigs when I can squeeze them in.
  8. This is my fault I suppose.
  9. So the Mets are good again? Ok cool
  10. Glad that I was able to see it happen live on TV. I've missed much of the last two weeks due to terribleness.
  11. Happened to catch both McLean's start Tuesday and Sproat's yesterday here in Syracuse. Sproat fell flat a bit in the 6th but he cruised through the first five. McLean was lights out the other day.
  12. Benny Agbayani never hit more than 15 home runs in a season.
  13. They have this as a themed team name once per season when they play against the Rochester Garbage Plates. They have all kinds of salt potato merch already for sale in the gift shop. It's cutesy poo but I think they likely keep this as a once per summer mascot and go with something else more permanent for the rest of the season.
  14. There are only two other AAA teams currently that have the same team nickname as their parent club (the Iowa Mets and Worcester Red Sox), so perhaps this was inevitable. I hate the cutesy poo two word nicknames, the same as I hate the Savannnah ****ing Bananas and messages on a scoreboard telling me when to cheer. I just like baseball. I did submit a nickname choice, the Syracuse Crows. It's kind of a thing up here.
  15. The Syracuse Mets have announced that after 2026 they will be renamed and fans will have an opportunity to help pick the name. I hope we can come up with something less terrible than the ****ing Rumble Ponies at least. As a Mets fan, and a Syracuse Mets fan, I hate this. But I suspect 3/4 of the local baseball fans will be happy about it.
  16. Thought this too, about both of them. Ultimately I think my lasting memory of him will be his teary goodbyes in the bullpen when he found out about the trade, more than anything he did on the field.
  17. I prefer this trade to any for Luis Robert Jr. that would have cost a Met that I heard of, or liked. These guys they gave up ? They are unknown to me
  18. I've been watching Drew Gilbert for the last two years here in Syracuse. He's finally, just in the last 5-6 weeks, showing some signs of life as a batter. He's been very mediocre up until that point.
  19. I also don't have a specific memory but he was an effective swingman.
  20. Cookie Carrasco from AAA Yanqui purgatory to Atlanta. I think in terms of hated opponents that's a mostly lateral move.
  21. Just had a flashback to my teen years. "STOP FIGHTING AND YELLING AT EACH OTHER ALL THE TIME!"
  22. I don't hate on guys wearing Mets colors. Don't treat em like they're Phillies for Chrissakes
  23. Caught two games this past week, including another strong Nolan McLean start yesterday and a 6-2 Syracuse Mets win. 'twas a warm one at the ballpark. Pitching for the visiting Omaha AAA team was former Cy Young award winner Dallas Keuchel.
  24. We've been watching Gilbert for the better part of two seasons here in AAA. I haven't been overly impressed for the most part.
  25. I thought perhaps that was the confusion. Lakeland, NY is just a few miles south of where I live, and home to the New York State Fairgrounds also.
