  1. J. Reyes might need a day off. Perhaps Monday afternoon.
  2. We're back from Dewey Beach, pumped for an exciting evening of Mets baseball.
  3. An almost tension-free win. We're not used to those. Way to go Ollie and Aaron!
  4. Maybe Favre can pitch.
  5. ="Frayed Knot"]I'm with Gary/Ron here -- Put Castro in to PH and AReyes to PR Down 2, with 2 outs at one on, you have to put up a guy with some pop, regardless of whether he's a lefty or a righty. If Castro isn't capable in Jerry's eyes, then it's incumbent on Omar to get someone that is. If Castro is capable, but Jerry wanted to keep it lefty/righty, then he's not as smart as he thinks he is.
  6. Cerrone cleverly reasons that the pricing was based on famous Mets years: "i assume the established price is a combination of the numbers 86 and 69, as in 1986 and 1969, the two seasons during which the Mets won a World Seriesvery clever" If the MFYs do that, they'll stick their dopey fans for $2,600.
  7. A 4 run lead in the ninth and 4 of the 6 remaining pitchers in the pen pitched or warmed up. Ridiculous. And does Schoenenweis become the first Jewish player in Mets history to get a save?
  8. Heilman for Huston Street (assuming Street clears waivers)? I remember reading that Beane liked Heilman. Hopefully he still does.
  9. Out of respect for the deceased, I will not provide any commentary on Skip Carey's announcing skills, as I have done so often in the past. However, I will relate this story: After the first game in NY after 9/11, the loud-speaker played "New York, New York." Carey, on TBS, said "now we have to hear that song." Given the circumstances, that comment was, let's say, inappropriate.
  10. And so it goes that the bullpen continues to suck. And someone here actually said the other night when I pleaded for Omar to get some help that doing so is a "knee-jerk" reaction. Well, I had a knee-jerk reaction of nausea to a bullpen that can't get six freakin' outs on a consistent basis.
  11. Jerry probably thought that the Mets would take the lead by the end of the inning so he didn't want to lose Endy's glove... except that you have to take the lead before you can worry about protecting the lead. He should have PH Evans (Castro is too much of a DP threat).
  12. Gary Cohen shows us again that he is the best in the biz. He called Reyes pulling it by Berkman.
  13. His rambling on impressionism.
  14. What the hell is Keith talking about?
  15. More from LoDuca who said all the right things: "When Jim and Manny just called me in there, I apologized, I feel bad. I'm a better player than I played; it's just an unfortunate year this year. I had the knee surgery and just when I started to feel healthy, I broke my hand. I actually started to feel better at the plate. Their reasons are verified, definitely. Kory needs to play. He has future with this organization. And a lot of these guys here, especially Jesus, they need to play. Them giving me my release is sort of a class act by them. "I think they're making the right move. Other guys in here need to play and I'm taking up a spot. Bottom line. You gotta be honest with yourself. Do think can play? Yeah, most definitely. And I'm going to come back next year, if it doesn't happen this year, and I'm going to shove it to a lot of people, believe me. I can play this game, I know I can. It's just unfortunate. But like I said, a lot of the young kids here need to play. I'm not going to be here next year. Those guys need to get at-bats and learn up here. This is an organization that's going to go in the right direction." http://blog.washingtonpost.com/nationalsjournal/2008/07/2009_comes_on_july_31.html?nav=rss_blog

The Mets couldn't have matched LaRoche and a minor-minor leaguer?
  17. metirish wrote: Heyman 1:49 p.m. The Mets are talking to the Nationals about a deal for reliever Luis Ayala, SI.com has learned. Mets GM Omar Minaya badly wants a reliever and wouldn't mind making a deal. This could be it. http://www.baseball-reference.com/a/ayalalu01.shtml Former Expo.
  18. C'mon Omar--the bullpen is killing his team.
  19. Adam Rubin has the Mets lineup for tonight's "rubber game": Reyes, ss Reyes, 2b Wright, 3b Delgado, 1b Beltran, cf Tatis, rf Anderson, lf Schneider, c Pelfrey, rhp
  20. I like these Gwreck. Thank you.
  21. When they run the horrible Mulrooney's ads, who gets the residuals, Ray Parker, Jr. or Huey Lewis? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Parker_Jr.#Controversy_surrounding_Ghostbusters
  22. Does anybody believe that Derek Jeter drives a Ford? When he went on a date with Megan Fox, Scarlett Johannsen, Jessica Alba, or Jessica Biel, do you think he drove up to their doors in a Ford? Same thing with Tiger Woods endorsing Buick. I do not believe that when his hot Swedish wife yells "Eldrick! We're out of bagels!" and he says "I'll run to the Bagel Hut for a dozen", he jumps in a Buick. (edited for the reason noted below.)
  23. Dear Omar, Please get some bullpen help. Thank you. Mets Fans
  24. The Marlins TV shows a moron w/a sign in the stands that reads "If New York is so great, move back." I don't know what the Marlins announcers are saying because I can't stand them so I have FAN on via the computer and the game a half-minute delayed via the DVR.
  25. Anybody want to see Muniz in a Met uni tomorrow night?
