  1. Marlon should be even more embarrassed after seeing Endy make that play.
  2. Either the moron Phillies fans are chanting "Ollie" or they are saluting the popular movie "Wall-E."
  3. Shoulda sent him with the pitcher on deck.
  4. It's All-Star Selection day. According to [u:bf922a4ddd]The New York Post[/u:bf922a4ddd], for whatever that's worth (Hubbach didn't write the article), none of the Mets are starting: http://www.nypost.com/seven/07062008/sports/yankees/jeter__a_rod_start_118679.htm (no word if Lenny Kravitz will sing the National Anthem). Which Met or Mets do you think will be selected as a reserve? I think David Wright and Jose Reyes will make it. Wagner should, too, but I don't think he'll get the call.

  6. What's Feliciano's record to the first batter he faces?
  7. I can't believe that didn't go out.
  8. Jerry walks Jenkins, hitting .236, to pitch to Coste but last night he didn't walk Victorino, hitting .263, to pitch to Coste.
  9. Heilman worked hard. He deserved a victory.
  10. I'm getting mighty sick of Beltran. If he takes ball four earlier in the game w/the bases loaded, maybe it's a different game. I would have walked Victorino for Coste and said so at the time, but not here. I also wouldn't have PH for Castro, even though a righty was in. Jerry had a lousy night. He won't enjoy the post-game press conference.
  11. Zvon--you didn't make that in four minutes, did you? 1000+ posts. I am humbled.
  12. Glad to, ZVON. Santana's AB seemed like he said to himself "I gave up a Grand Slam to a pitcher and now I want to hit one."

  14. The "Stars and Stripes" cap for today's games (and the games on 9/11): http://shop.mlb.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=3172096&sr=1&origkw=3172096
  15. themetfairy wrote: I just saw this with the family. The kids loved it. I didn't love it, but I appreciated it - the story was original, and the animation was wonderful. Thank you TMF... we're sympatico.
  16. Yea for us! Good night everybody.
  17. I didn't know that George Foster is doing some work for the team: http://www.newsday.com/sports/columnists/ny-spjim0704,0,934827.column?track=rss
  18. Howie Rose just ran through some of the Mets that wore 29. He might have a copy of [u:73a7c3f514]MBTN [/u:73a7c3f514]in the press box.
  19. Will we see Reyes in for Reyes (or is A. Reyes only a 2B)? Aguila should go in for Church (who is supposed to be getting tomorrow off against a lefty). Information on A. Reyes posted in the thread "Dark Horse II"--he can play SS but he's primarily a 2B.
  20. They're doing it to us again, building our hopes up: we're pissed about last night, and look what they do tonight! And this is w/o Beltran.
  21. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I heard that too. I'm still on the fence about Hagin. Too often he sounds like he's trying to entertain me, instead of letting the game be the entertainment. Interesting comment, JCL--we don't want a homer, we don't want a cheerleader, we don't want a dope, we want honesty but perhaps Hagin is trying too hard. Sometimes I wish he'd just relax. I wonder if he was like that in St. Louis and Colorado (and if so, is that why he was fired from both places).
  22. You know that fake the pitchers do w/runners on first and third that they never fall for? My son's HS summer team, which is 0-10-2, fell for it. The runner from first broke when the pitcher faked toward 3d, the pitcher got the runner from first going to 2d and when the pitcher threw to 2d, the runner from 3rd broke and the other team got him at the plate. Good times!
  23. If Delgado had struck out, I think that Wayne Hagin would have done a reverse-Milton Bradley by leaving the dugout to attack a player. Hagin was very critical, and rightly so, of Delgado waiving at breaking balls out of the strike zone on the first two pitches. Nothing wrong with what he said but you'd never hear it from Sterling, Waldman, YES, or just about anywhere else.
  24. And the Andy Phillips era comes to an end: "Reds: Claimed infielder Andy Phillips off waivers from the New York Mets."
