My friend Fred is copying my 3-generational "farewell to Shea" trip today as he, his father, and his son, drove from Maryland to see the game. As with "my game", Ollie is pitching. I hope he has as good a time and as good a game.
Dear Greg Maddux, Tonight was the first time EVER that we wanted you to pitch well. EVER is a long time for you. So a big thanks for SUCKING tonight. Signed, Mets Fans
Who do you think is off the roster when Castillo is activated? Evans--probably out of the question; A. Reyes--logical, but he provides a lot of energy and J. Reyes is his buddy; Stokes--could be, and keep your fingers crossed that they don't need a long man until September 1; Easley to the DL--he has some aches and pains so they could say "rest up for the stretch."
You gotta love: everybody on the top step; the rally caps; the jubilation after the win; Delgado running across the field to hug somebody; the fist pumping and hugging en route to the clubhouse. Wow.
This is the song in the Amstel Light commercial (HEMMA HEMMA HEMMA HEMMA!!!): http://findthatsong.net/index.php/Latest-Additions/Amstel-Light-Beer-Amsterdam-Ad.html
A TV board says that the Mets are now "maxed out" on Sunday night. This is good because ESPN cannot switch the final regular season game at Shea to Sunday night (which they did for the MFYs).

I can't imagine Volquez would have been off the table if they had offered Dunn or possibly even Griffey instead. I hate to think that the guy who traded Hamilton, even though he got an All-Star pitcher in return, worked for the Mets. Oh, wait.
Do you have tickets for the September 7 game against the Phillies? Were you looking forward to a late summer day game? Were your kids going to run the bases after the game? Well forget those plans! The game has been moved to 8:05 for ESPN. Now you have to find somebody to go with you because your kids have school the next day. Now you have to think about leaving early because you have work the next day. No Gary, Keith and Ron--just Jon Miller over emphasizing the accents for the Mets Hispanic plans; Joe Morgan and his tortured logic; and lazy story lines about this September and last September. I'd sarcastically say "FANTASTIC!" but this has nothing to do with the fans.
