  1. I don't know if this was mentioned in any of the other uni threads, but the Mets online shop is selling what they are calling an Authentic 1989 Turn Back The Clock Game Performance 59FIFTY On-Field Cap. In other words, it's the cap with a blue dot rather than an orange dot. It's on clearance sale, so get them while they're hot for $21 plus shipping.
  2. I love NFL football almost as much, but in a completely separate way as I do the MLB. I consider the leagues apples and oranges with both of them having positives, but also a whole mess of things that could (should) be fixed. As far as the NFL being "best run", if they mean like the way that organized crime is run, then yeah, I guess so. As much as I love both football and baseball, it has been over a decade since I've voluntarily listened to sports radio. OE: Save the two weeks in April of 2011 when I discovered the WFAN app while running. Two weeks was all I needed before I couldn't listen anymore.

  4. Edgy MD wrote: The teams that make it through without needing alternate starters are teams that win championships. I mean, look at our two championship teams --- fantastic health both times. It sucks to think about, but it takes a lot of luck in the injury department to win. You can build some insurance into the system, but it's a tough reality. The 2006 Mets are an example of how it works out the other way, IMO.
  5. What we got back was more than I was expecting for RA when the season ended. I am very happy and ready to move forward.
  6. Mets Willets Point wrote: He was great. He was the best thing about the Mets for the past three years... This is how I feel. My memory of him may fade a little more quickly because the Mets teams he was great for were not terribly great themselves. The one-hitter he threw against the Rays in TB this past season was one of my faves. If we didn't have him to root for in late 2012, there would not have been much left.
  7. Very much in favor.
  8. I finally saw this tonight, too. And took the liberty of re-watching the first two films this past week as well. This film was decent. Not nearly on par with TDK, IMO, but as good as the first. Ledger's Joker and Eckhart's Dent/Two Face were tough performances to top.
  9. The alt hats ruin the alt unis. BAH!
  10. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I remember coming home from the theater completely blown away by PULP FICTION. I don't recall knowing anything of QT or a review, or much about movies, when I saw it and so was not nearly prepared for it to be as ambitious as it was, and the effect made for probably the best moviegoing experience of my life. Same here. I would recommend the Kill Bills and agree with Vic that it is Tarantino at his best.
  11. I plan on taking this one in...most likely at the theater during Xams week. My better half wants to see the Les Mis movie coming out, so it may be an afternoon where we split up and go to different theaters.
  12. Edgy MD wrote: I have to say, nothing is cooler than being that kid in class who loves an out-of-town team. This. When I grew up in Central Illinois in the late eighties, half the kids loved the Cardinals, half the kids loved the Cubs and I was the mysterious Mets fan. It was fun when they were all in the NL East with the Cubs winning in 1984 and 1989, the Cards in 1985 and 1987 and the Mets winning in 1986 and 1988. I don't identify much with Philly or Atlanta geographically. And the Brewers/Mets is not much of a rivalry at all. I miss the competetion with the local teams. I can't imagine ever switching teams. If I did (probably over Wilpon hate), I would wait for an expansion/relocated team to start from scratch.

  14. Break out the mayonnaise. That's what I'm talking aboot.

  16. I ain't 'fraid of no ghosts.
  17. Ceetar wrote: that fits the Mets budget pretty easily, depending what they plan to do about the other outfield spots and a RH catcher and some bullpen. I'll believe it when I see it.
  18. Ceetar wrote: Melky Cabrera to the Blue Jays, 2 years, $16. seems like a good deal to me. I'd have taken him for that. I think you would have a better chance of affording that pricetag than the Wilpons do. The Jays have some winning to do. Do they have a manager yet?
  19. Mr. Met made it on to the field last year...he just needs to make the jump to the uni/cap.
  20. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Apparently there is more to the new look including an orange-brimmed cap. NOOOO!!! John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: What I'd like to see them try is a Mr. Met logo cap... YES!!!
  21. I don't mind these blues...better than black. Like most here, I'm hoping they're not over-used. I'd be all for retiring the snow-whites now, too.
  22. Let the record show that when the NL Cy Young went head-to-head against the AL Cy Young on 06/02/12, the Mets won 9-1. Dickey: Complete game one-hitter with 12 Ks and no walks. Price: 7 ER over 5 innings with 3 walks. That was one of my favorite (non-no-hitter) games of 2012.
  23. Woot!
  24. Per Rubin: NL Cy Young will be announced at 6:47 p.m. ET.
  25. I've seen more than a couple of notes left in the comments sections on the internet articles that basically say: "I'm a Marlins fan and I give up."
