  1. Good point!
  2. We'll have to choose a draft day (late March, if I remember correctly)...but it is live and chat enabled. Last year we had to split it up over a couple of days since we were drafting teams from scratch. It should only take a couple of hours this year since the teams are mostly assembled.
  3. New season, new thread? As a reminder, the keeper deadline is tomorrow.
  4. And again today in Baton Rouge... http://www.nola.com/entertainment/baton-rouge/index.ssf/2013/01/bill_maher_receives_standing_o.html#incart_river_default
  5. Facebook WWW.FACEBOOK.COM Minority owner Bill Maher touring Graceland yesterday in his ill-fitting black Mets cap. You'd think even Fred would tell him to get with the times and put on a new cap.
  6. Good flick...some great camera shots and an amazing story. I'd never heard of it before this thread. Thanks for recommending it.
  7. Yup.
  8. I'm going to need an example (or three). I can't remember a majority of Mets fans agreeing to like much recently as far as roster moves are concerned.
  9. http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/60181/turner-lutz-will-get-looks-in-outfield They need to get you on the payroll, Edgy.

  11. Frayed Knot wrote: And while the logic of the Mets pick getting bumped doesn't mean they were any better than 10th worst is perfectly sound, I doubt that MLB budges. I don't think "budging" is the issue here. I'm sure this contingency was nailed down during the CBA which created the new compensation rules (that's why they pay all those lawyers). Either it was written to protect the first ten picks regardless of whether they are "earned" in the previous season or leftover from last year, or they are intended for worst ten 2012 records only meaning that the Mets pick is protected. I'm pretty sure the answer is the former rather than the latter but, either way, I highly doubt it's something MLB has to rule on here. I agree...but they are "arguing" anyhow. I'm not sure to who and to what end...but that's why I used the word "budge". http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/60132/mets-argue-draft-pick-issue.
  12. In this scenario, I'm glad the Mets kept their ceiling. I think the chances of Scott repeating his 2012 performance are unfavorable. We need outfielders, but I'd rather watch young guys struggle than old guys.
  13. Benjamin Grimm wrote: The way I look at it, is Bourn somebody for whom we'd be willing to trade a draft pick? If the Mets are expecting to contend (and I hope they are) during the term of his contract, then the answer to that may very well be yes. I agree with this logic...but I'm not sure of Bourn's worth. And while the logic of the Mets pick getting bumped doesn't mean they were any better than 10th worst is perfectly sound, I doubt that MLB budges.
  14. I like this signing, too. We could do (and have done) worse.
  15. I'm with Dr. Edgy here. There is a six page thread about how we need outfielders. Go be one, Zach.
  16. Not an inning. Yankee in paycheck only.
  17. Nice...I wish him the best.
  18. I guess she wanted to wait until he had financial security.
  19. Molly Beers-Wright?
  20. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Are you suggesting that the Mets hired Terry expecting him to only stick around long enough to get them through a few sucky seasons, or that that was the most likely outcome? Absolutely and I said so at the time. I don't think I was the only one. I think Terry has exceeded expectations, but that, yes, he was originally hired to be a place-holder during these "lean" payroll years.

  22. Ashie62 wrote: I believe both are lame ducks. Yup.
  23. Swan Swan H wrote: Plus, he's just about entered late-era Dennis Rodman territory as a personality. Yeah...if this guy put up All-Star stats every year, I could try to live with his douchiness. As it is, he's one of my least favorite (hate is a strong word) baseball players right now.
  24. Edgy MD wrote: And now Griffin's career is at risk. I'm a Skins fan and would have preferred to see Kirk Cousins in the second half. It's a tough call and I can only hope there is no ligament damage. I know the situations are not exactly the same, but the Washington fan base sure has had the "he's the future of the franchise/we're in the playoffs/shut him down/don't shut him down" roller coaster with Strasburg/Griffin over the past 6 months.
  25. I dug this one. Not a classic...but good crime/chase fun. I would have watched this movie over and over at age 12. Fixed gear, steel frame, no brakes...yes, that is fucking crazy.
