  1. If seawolf is looking for a new handle, he better get moving as there are some fine ones already off the market. Some of the more interesting non-spam names I wish would drop a post once in a while: zero posts: Don't Delete Me Don't Delete Me II Lindsey's Jacket The7Line Joe_Petruccio Classical Gas Prestomets 1 post: Ken Boswell User 404 Caustic Fucktard Go to Hell, Mike Piazza! 2. Matz is on the bump and needs to not be crappy. No TV today [tweet:e3g1d523] [/tweet:e3g1d523]

Unless you think Frazier's growth in terms of BB% is a fluke, I'd take Frazier's defense and OBP over Moustakas' extra power every single time. I don't know, man, it might be a fluke, .302 and .309 in 2016 and '15 respectively. Given Moustakas is younger and cheaper, if we knew everything we know today, I'd prob take Moose.
  4. Jeez, how psyched are the Royals right now?
  5. Benjamin Grimm wrote: George and Ken Brett. Good call. Ken prob made it to the majors cause he had to be good enough to get George out once in a while when they were kids.
  6. Rare to find a pair of MLB siblings where one hits and one pitches, no? Pedro/Ramon, Al/Mark Leiter, Phil/Joe Niekro, Greg/Mike Maddux, Pascual and Melido Perez... Travis/Chase d'Arnaud, Roberto/Sandy Alomar, Tony/Chris Gwynn, Jose/Ozzie Canseco... Oh goddamn Mike Glavine.
  7. Meanwhile in Florida... young David Thompson singled, stole second and scored on a Nimmo double off Strasburg. Noah has walked 2, but struck out 3 in 2 scoreless. 1-nil Mets going to the bottom of the third. For those keeping score at home, Thompson now hitting a cool .389 this spring.
  8. 8 OD losses to start off as a franchise, then 18 wins out of 20. Not bad, Mets.
  9. Ichiro to Esther Williams to Good Times, in like, 7 posts. The CPF, ladies and gents.
  10. Looks like no TV or radio today or tomorrow. I will be watching Adrian Gonzalez's animated GameDay avatar closely to see if he looks old and sucky or not.
  11. Yo and Bruce flip-flopped today. Nice to see Guillorme and Thompson getting more looks. And Adrian Gonzalez is going to lead the Grapefruit league in ABs. The Mets are gonna get their $500K worth in March alone to see if this guy has anything left. I don't think anyone but Dom Smith is too upset that Dom Smith isn't out there every day.
  12. I clearly didn't look closely enough. How bout a nice W-L tally at the top of the page somewhere to celebrate the best (are the best still?) opening day team of all time?
  13. Very cool. Man, some of those lineups... yeesh. Still, lots of orange results.
  14. Great piece. Ichirio seems a bit of a sad, tortured figure. Why don't people here like this guy? I've always thought he's great.

Frayed Knot wrote: I don't think this is a strategy for Boras as much as it is a justification for pointing out that the compensation conditions do in fact depress the market value for those to whom it's attached. If negotiations are going to drag into the season he might as well set up his his anti-compensation pick arguments in advance just in case it gets to that point. Yeah, I don't think he expected this at all. MLB's de facto salary cap dictates that teams can't operate the old skool way anymore.
  16. There's little incentive for a team to offer a 1-year/larger dollar contract to any of these dudes either, as most of the big name dudes left are tied to the compensatory pick. If I'm still a team with holes to fill, I just leave that low-ball offer sitting there (like Minny's 2-year/$20M offer for Lynn). I'm sure none of these dudes in their prime years (Moustakas, Lynn, Cobb) really want to sit out.
  17. Hope Mickey has an extra pink slip for McGowan, too.

  19. No way Montero makes it out of spring alive, is there?
  20. Yikes. Met pen implodes in the 8th.
  21. I never ever again want to see that clip of Thom Brenneman interviewing that stupid goddamn bird.
  22. Nice, lil slider by Wheeler to K Andujar and end the 3rd. He's Wheelered his way through the first 3, allowing 4 baserunners, but 4 K's helps with that.
  23. Couple K's for Wheels in a scoreless first. How might Matz fare as a reliever?
  24. danke schoen
  25. I'm surprised we haven't gone to a matte helmet yet.
