  1. I like both like and dislike aspects of each. Everything is sweet w/ the uniform background of 85, but the 3 pics dropped in the way they are lacking imagination. The sleeve patch pic on 94 is really nice, but the fonts at the top absolutely suck in both color and style. Neither of these is gonna go the distance in this comp.
  2. I might keep Lugo on schedule so we'd get Synderella/deGrom for the first 2 Nats games.
  3. Postponed. Rescheduled as a double-header on July 9.
  4. Incredibly st00pid. It's like a millennial version of unwritten rules, because 25 years ago, they prob wouldn't overshift for this kid to begin with, so the bunt never would've happened. The quotes from the Twins guys are idiotic.
  5. We watched most of his start. Rocky for sure, but his stuff is undeniable. Super easy 99/100, scary slider, weird splitter looking pitch. He's gonna be just fine.
  6. It's not at all, but I'm kind of declaring this the first #BigGame of the season. With the Matz letdown yesterday, a resurgent Harvey getting us to 3-1 would seem to carry a lot of really good psychological juju for this club. OTOH, a disappointing start by Harv, a quick drop to .500 and Lugo vs the young, dumb Phils ace Aaron Nola tomorrow could set us on a week long, CAHN-fidence starved tailspin with the Nats coming up this weekend. I'd love to hit Washington at 4-2 (or 5-1!) and have the dudes just brimming entering the weekend series. Cmon, dudes. Kick some ass today.
  7. It looks a little shake-weighty, but I don't mind it. Is there an origin story? "Now we're cookin!" or "bro, check out my shake weight" or something like that?
  8. I checked the Vegas AAA roster to see if that's where my dude was assigned, but turns out he was sent back to AA again. There is currently only one player listed as "3B" on the Vegas roster blocking my adoptee... and it's my other adoptee, the offensively-challenged, defier-of-all-odds, Dale Burdick.
  9. I imagine 2003 was given to a young, hot shit designer who had some sweet concepts, was well on his way to getting this yearbook done, then got hooked on coke and quit/was fired after turning up to work looking like hell after a long Airstrip kinda night. The Mets realized way too late that no one else had worked on the cover, so the day it was due they turned it in as-is and tried to pitch it as "futuristic minimalism". I'm picturing some Michael Scott-type working in the Mets office (a real stretch, huh) hiring some Ryan Howard-type (BJ Novak, not the first baseman) to coke this terrible mess up.
  10. Whatever the Bonilla cover is, it didn't stand a chance against that nearly perfect 87.
  11. Nice 3-man IGT. Zvon gets the Schaefer by the slimmest of margins. Today was new gf's first Met game. She looked them up on Wikipedia and now knows more about Bill Shea than I do. She thinks Travis is cute and that Shea Stadium sounds nicer than Citi Field. Like Fman, she had a nice nap during the game. Expectations for 18? Surprising roster addition out of spring, showing a high baseball IQ, good chance to stick with the club.
  12. What a nice thread this sad new has turned into. Great page 2 posts by FK and Edgy. Rusty pt II is how I think of Staub the Met, so I much appreciate those insights. Also, the Rusty/autograph patch is a nice sentiment, but it doesn't look good. Yall are right, the orange armband (edit: or just a big round orange, duh) with numbers 4 and 10 would look so, so nice.
  13. Our cleanup hitter from yesterday is hitting leadoff today. LGM. [tweet:2x6wbiqe] [/tweet:2x6wbiqe]
  14. 78, what a shot! 2001 looks like a rejected billboard for The Matrix.
  15. Plawecki it is! Mickey releases his lineup card on Twitter apparently. Adjust your home score cards, people! [tweet:3ljrarrm] [/tweet:3ljrarrm]
  16. Paste Magazine comes through with their top 18(?) baseball movies. https://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2018/03/the-best-baseball-movies-of-all-time.html?utm_source=PMNL&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=180327 They cheat a little with the Ken Burns documentary, but looks like most of us are missing out on The Battered Bastards of Baseball and No-No: A Dockumentary Trailers: RA76b5Hhvxg iATpe6GLT5g

Tough draw, 2k10, keep your head up. Man, that Citi Field logo alone should sink 2010's candidacy. Sad, little logo still makes me hungry for pizza.
  18. I went 2002, but it was close. The anniversary logo is a little too dark for that unnecessary shadow effect over the gold banner part. And the nice nod to the history is a little to sepia toned, but at least they did it.

  20. I think Mickey has said there isn't one dude who is necessarily 100% THE MAN, but I think it's safe to assume Familia will get the bulk of the opportunities. Good luck with your draft!
  21. Yeah I imagine if he's ready to go, they won't keep him in PSL or send him to Vegas just because. Not sure if 6 days of game action is enough to get him major league ready, but I'd rather have an mostly-ready Conforto than a fully-ready den Dekker.
  22. Not watching very closely, but the homie Gagnon (#91, no name on his jersey) is getting beat up a little bit. 2.2, 4 H, 2 ER, just got his first K.
  23. Guessing it would only be to get more reps and get timing down. Maybe he won't need it.
  24. SNY and WOR. Conforto makes his spring debut. I am unreasonably happy over his return.
