  1. Kinda glad to see this. Mickey said he wants the best arms coming north and Robles isn't one of them now. I don't want to give away games in April while talented dudes try to 'figure it out'.
  2. Yeah, Buddy wins my vote in this crappo round.
  3. Yeah these are both kinda weak. The 90 uses some strange colors and the colored pencil makes it seem like cheap pop art. The #1 is weird, too. #1 since 1984? What are they trying to say? Not sure which I'm gonna vote for yet.
  4. Wheeler getting pounded like a stripper at a Donald Trump cocktail party. Top 2nd, 4-0 Nats, more danger brewing...
  5. Evening time baseball, yall. Wheeler gave up 2 in the first, so like every game this spring, we are starting off behind. #consistency
  6. Ashie62 wrote: He has one option left. Is Montero worth a 40 man spot? He is out of options, hence the Mets trying to figure out just what the hell to do with him this spring.
  7. Wild timing. The decision on what to do with him gets made, and the Mets no longer risk losing him and can see what they have in 12-18 months, I guess.
  8. What am I supposed to do during the day now? Work? This some bullshit.
  9. Or maybe he tears his UCL and has to get Tommy John surgery...
  10. I think he's amongst the last cuts this spring, but does not clear waivers. He gets claimed by the Rockies and pitches with an Anthony Young-like mix of brilliance and frustration, finishing the year with an ERA of 4.65, but tantalizing the Rox when he throws a 2-hit shutout in August. He will throw a freak no-hitter in 2020 for the Orioles! The Mets will re-aquire him in 2022! He will quietly retire in 2023. Good night, sweet prince
  11. I can't say if it was my replacement dude or not. I had long-standing tickets to the Back to the Future Fan Fest, so naturally could not participate in this one dork thing because of the other dork thing.
  12. Wilmer and Td'A with bombs, Mets bustin out the whuppin sticks!
  13. Two other things that planted the tiniest seeds of hope in me today: Jose Reyes and Juan Lagares also got base hits.
  14. Adrian Gonzalez hit a homerun. Seriously.
  15. If you only watch Mets games, then you will assume I am talking about the best hitter in MLB when I say Paul Dejong just hit a solo bomb. 1-1 in the 5th.
  16. No TV today, but Hovvey dealing so far. 3.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 4 K.
  17. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Okay, so if they give up on Gonzalez, what would the plan be for first base? Lind? Alonso? Or a platoon between Flores and Bruce? I think I'd go with Flores and Bruce. I feel like at this point we could get Lind for just a few bucks more than Gonzalez, and his recent history is way better than I thought. If Gonzo is still crap towards the end of April and Lind is unemployed, I'd strongly consider him. Otherwise we'd need to see Dom destroying Vegas or Nimmo destroying the NL and forcing Bruce to first.
  18. Sounds like he might not miss any time. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/03/nl-notes-diamondbacks-nats-mets.html Even though Mets left-hander Jason Vargas will undergo surgery on his right hand Tuesday, he might not miss any regular-season time, Tim Britton of The Athletic tweets. It’s not as if the soft-tossing Vargas is going to have to regain lost velocity, manager Mickey Callaway noted – “It’s not going to be too hard to go back and get his 84 again,” he said – while GM Sandy Alderson essentially expressed no concern over the situation. “If he can catch the ball coming back from the catcher, he’s probably good to go,” Alderson offered.
  19. I still think they'll give him a month or so of regular season baseball just to make sure.
  20. Vic Sage wrote: no go. But Matz got 9 K/0 BB (5 hits)in 6 innings, throwing 90 pitches, so he's looking sharp. Evans continues to hit, and A-Gon continues NOT to. Largares had nothing to show for it, but at least hit a couple balls hard, even if they were on the ground. Gonzo just keeps hitting these sad, little grounders to the right side. 44 ABs isn't a ton, but he sure looks like crap.
  21. Matz settles down and racks up 9 K's through 6. Good job, young man.
  22. Adrian with another soft ground ball out, now back on the interstate at .195. Lagares hit one hard down the third base line, but Bregman made a nice play and threw him out, so he's at .189 now. Speaking of things that look like shit, Matz was fine in the first, then gave up a solo HR by Correa followed by a double by Reddick in the 2nd. He got a K to end the inning before things got unruly. 1-nil Stros.
  23. Nice to see Yo back in there. Lagares at .194/.256/.222 really has to get something going. Keith keeps saying he sees no change in his swing. Can't say I do either. Or if it's different, it's crappier. This one's on MLB Network TV and WOR.
  24. Matz this spring: 10.80 ERA, 10 IP, 14 H, 12 R, 12 ER, 8 BB, 8 K. Congrats on the 5th starter job!
  25. I feel like his RBI single was decidedly "good", but the error was inarguably "not good".
