  1. That next-to-last cart looks like one Yoenis would drive to his spot in left field.
  2. Who's throwing today? [tweet:3lqrmfde] [/tweet:3lqrmfde]
  3. I'm imagining how anticlimactic it would have been if Trevor Hoffman would have walked out of the bullpen in San Diego in a tense 9th inning, "Hell's Bells" blaring, fans losing their shit, then he climbs into a little golf cart covered in ads for Sea World, life insurance and Karl Strauss beer, and slowly rolls to the mound.

Aww you know those Wyoming boys and the jones they have for shark fishing. It's in their blood. Yes, kids who grow up hunting shit like hunting shit.
  5. Nymr83 wrote: Wait - so the company says "all sharks were released"? If so, I really dont have much of an issue with it. I'm with you Seo, no interest in doing it myself, but I don't mind others catching and releasing (or catching and eating any non endangered species) - its the "catch it and waste it" that bothers me. Yes, the caption on that Mickey/Harvey pic says all the sharks were released. In the vid, shark guy explains that that particular area where they fished is a hot-bed for shark activity. Also, Sandy Alderson was in the group, so whether this was Mickey's idea or it wasn't, the boss being there is a pretty clear approval. Kinda glad I don't hate the Mets over this anymore.
  6. Zimmo, apparently still sporting a raging boner over shark fishing, posted another pic on instagram today, this time featuring he and his lovely bride giving the ol' thumbs up as they hover over a shark he caught. The caption on this probably read something like, "Praise ye, baby Jesus, for giving us these beautiful creatures we can yank out of their environment because, golly-gee, it sure is fun." He then linked to the page of the company who took the team out, hyping a video they made of the team outing. When you get to their page, you're greeting by a pic featuring Harvey, who of of course looks like a huge dildo, along with Mickey and the dude who runs the fishing company. The caption for this one actually reads: blacktiph Double header blacktips with @Mets pitcher Matt Harvey and manager Mickey Callaway. The bite was insane, we hooked a blacktip shark every five minutes!! All sharks were released. Video goes live tonight! #blacktiph #fishing #shark #mets #mlb #baseball #sharkfishing #beach #florida #doubleheader #landbased #catchandrelease #froggtoggs #ceuticore #finandfield I still might not choose shark fishing as my first entertainment option, but as a pretty harsh critic of this shit, I was glad to read they released all the sharks anyway. Here's the vid, which includes an awkward few moments where Td'A, Harvey, and Plawecki all stand with their arms around one another for a strangely long time, like they posed for a photo, then just kept posing. I didn't see Donny Jr.'s face in the vid anywhere, so there's one less thing that could make ya sick. Myf3dDmGSHo Expect the Mets!
  7. Don't forget Guillorme. No pop to speak of, but a guy who gets on base like Zimmo and catches everything in front of him (including bats!). The Mets could do worse in a short-term pinch than run him out there.
  8. These late-inning Mets look like a bunch of cute lil hobbits.
  9. Mr. Baseball's always been my fav crappy baseball movie. Selleck as that mustachioed, over-the-hill primadonna ballplayer is just one of the terrible stereotypes in that movie I dig. I looked up Everybody Wants Some and remembered it's something like Linklater's Dazed and Confused, but in the 80s. I didn't know it was a baseball movie at all (maybe it's not, who knows). Anyway, it's on Amazon Prime if anyone else has that.
  10. an infield single on a hit-and-run by my new adopted kid David Thompson sees Kyle Kazmuh-whatshisname scamper to third. Guillorme follows with an opposite field single and we're tied at 5 in the 8th. Wilmer up, late inning excitement at First Data Filed OMG edit: double play, Wilmer. :'-(
  11. I think this might be Travis' career year, but not by much, and I sadly predict this will be the best year of his career. He will still see time on the shelf for this bruise or that knock, but he'll surpass his career best in PA (> 421) and drives in a career high 63 rib eye steaks, while falling just short of 20 homers.
  12. Sac fly, Bruce. 1-nil Mets. Jeez, if Gonzalez is actually healthy?
  13. Dang, nice AB by Zimmo to lead off. Down 1-2 and fought back to draw a tough walk. I'm on board with this dude. Ya gotta earn it, Lagares. Before I hit submit, Adrian smokes a double off the right field wall. Good sign.
  14. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I don't know. If I were a reliever, I'd wave off the cart and jog in from the bullpen. I would think that a grown man would be embarrassed to need a ride in a silly buggy for a trip that's about 300 feet in distance. I think this will happen more often than not. Less due to embarrassment, but more because a dude wants to get the heart rate up a little with a jog or a sprint before entering the game.
  15. Man, the Dbags never had bullpen carts to begin with. DWG seems like he was right... 3 adverts on the cart and the giant one on the side of the cap is prob a sneak peak into a shittier future for all teams.
  16. I feel like Barry Pepper in 61* was the first time I ever saw Brandon Nimmo.
  17. Zeile back in the booth today. Is he a permanent add?
  18. And here is David Thompson taking BP hacks to some shitty pop-country. Looks like he is a #8 and wore #88 in the AFL. I like a man with conviction. [youtube:2veztswx]PZjeeKBpS-s[/youtube:2veztswx]
  19. Found a vid of my new boy David Thompson that was way more interesting than I thought it would be. His interviewer is The Most Scottsdale Chick of All-Time, and she gets him to open up on A-Rod (and Cameron Diaz!) and NCAA violations (!?). He also briefly discusses THE PLAN and waxes on his love of Jesus and golf. Now to find a vid of him swinging a baseball bat or running or something. [youtube:3fw00kdl]CmUl_2u8k58[/youtube:3fw00kdl]
  20. He's a brut. Is he still catching?
  21. Last AB was a triple that died in the CF's glove, but Reyes has been absolutely scorching the ball today.
  22. Edgy MD wrote: I like Thompson. He puts up RBI numbers that outstrip his rate stats. I don't necessarily conclude anything there, but it bears watching. He is an intriguing, slightly older (25 in August) prospect. Homie gotta draw a few more walks, though. .318 OBP in 1238 minor league PAs ain't gonna get him the long look.
  23. I am worrying that first base could easily become a massive black hole for this team. I'm also a little worried that Juan Lagares 2.0 is the same old product.
  24. Zeile seems pretty alright by me. Decent insights and I like that he's not trying to be funny at all. Harv doesn't seem to be lighting up the gun today on the FB, but the slider is making dudes take poor swings.
  25. I've seen fastballs at 93, 94 and he just floated a slider at 86. Couple hard hit balls, in the 2nd, one a double, one a line out to right. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Edit: got a nice swinging K on some 80 MPH pitch to end the 2nd.
