  1. Gawd that's horrible. I was scared while reading that it was going to be even worse than losing a foot. Lots of Mets fam helping out on the gofundme, including Straw, Keith, Gary Cohen and Jay Horowitz. Sandy Carter is there, too, and I see a Jocelyn Ojeda (wonder if she's fam to Bobby).
  2. We'll be in section 106 that day. If any of yall are in the house and wanna say hi, HMU.
  3. Zack Scott spoke yesterday and it sounds like they are targeting pitching, are not looking to move any of the top tier prospects and acknowledge that the return would likely be for a starter who is not a top-tier kinda dude. I keep thinking Jon Gray is the best of those. Sinker ball pitcher who learned to succeed in Coors, I think he could flourish with the Mets D behind him. But I wonder if they could steal Mitch Keller from the Pirates, too. One-time top prospect who's lost of a fair bit of sheen and is trying to get right in AAA. Could be a nice future piece who could maybe even help now, and definitely a buy-low target. And the Pirates love to make shitty trades.
  4. I'm becoming very impressed w/Megill. His minor league numbers hint that he's got the goods, but if the Mets think he's punching above his weight at all, this dude is currently a helluva trade chip.
  5. Everything about these things is fuggin gross. All the hats look like they slapped a logo over an Astros star. Like, the Astros hat looks normal, just uglier. And the shirts, wtf, with those shirts. The three letter thing looks like a placeholder they forgot to remove from the final design. And if you feel the need to put an American flag on there, maybe put the actual flag, not those blue and red things. F-
  6. Lukas mentions it, and my first response (without knowing who the sponsor was) was that you want your umpires to appear to be the unbiased arbiters they're supposed to be. Even if the umpire's union isn't get a penny, advertising makes it looks like umps can be bought (the crypto angle is sadly hilarious).
  7. =Centerfield post_id=68895 time=1624492106 user_id=65] I like this kid. Maybe this is 2014 deGrom.
  8. A Boy Named Seo wrote: I would like to buy Jose Berrios from the last place Twins, please. I was going to say... this was floated somewhere last week, and seemed like a deal worth poking around even then. It's all the more intriguing now. The thing is... he'll be expensive. He'll be under team control (at arb rates) for another season beyond this (unlike Max), and the Twins will have a lot of interested parties. So getting it done would likely involve at least one of the top 3 (Mauricio, Alvarez, or Baty) in our system... and possibly other sweeteners (Szapucki? Ginn?). Is https://www.fangraphs.com/players/jose-berrios/14168/stats?position=Phe really https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/berrijo01.shtmlworth it? He's reliably good (ERA+ between 107 and 122 every season since his rookie year). But, even in this most pitcher-friendly year... he's not overwhelming. And that's what he'd have to be to be worth it, no? I don't know if he'd be worth that cost necessarily. But young, conrollable, comfortably above league average pitchers (with potential to reach a much higher ceiling) sound fuggin great to me, especially if we're not needing this dude to be an ace, just fortify that depth. A good, modern MLB staff has to have no less than 7 (8?) reliable major league caliber starters. We did much better planning for contingencies this year and still got effed hard. I'd at least consider all the options required to nab Berrios.

  10. Did Bob Brenly join this forum? What's up with some of these 'jokes'?
  11. Reliable source (my phone) sez McNeil is back and active for both games. With all the doubleheaders, I'd expect Conforto soon, too, if he's able to go.
  12. Maybe this is the night Lucchesi makes it through the order the third time? (Narrator: This would not be the night Lucchesi makes it through the order the third time.)

What's yall's fav spot for the money? And if any of you skip work that day, LMK. We've enjoyed the RF corner (foul-pole-to-bullpen-adjacent) immensely of late. Close to the field, bleacher-y atmosphere, not too far from the CF food/rec area, and the RF food stuff (Sweet Chick, the Alonso burger, rice balls) is right behind you for easy in-games refills/snacking. There's also nothing wrong with buying whatever gets you in cheaply, and hanging in the concourse/on the Shea Bridge for most of the game (with the same benefits as listed above). Hanging on the concourse is where I bumped into bmfc1 a couple years ago. It was kinda like, "] A Boy Named Seo wrote: Me and muh lady friend are going to the game. The Thursday, July 29th matinee to be precise. Ting tang walla walla bing bang! With almost 40 days notice, this screams out for us to meet up in person as a forum for the first time in many many years. Love the Thursday day camper matinee games.

Frayed Knot wrote: Back to the topic at hand for a moment: the team being under 85% immunized is also a factor in keeping the broadcast teams working remotely rather than traveling with the clubs. What moves the needle at this point? For wealthy young men, there's no monetary incentive like some states are doing. If dudes are still really hardline against it, I don't know what changes that if the club isn't really trying to persuade them. The booth might be working part-time for a while. At least Keith's Ring doorbell is working so he doesn't miss any UPS deliveries.

  16. It's cool. I think I got what you meant, KC.
  17. =kcmets post_id=68377 time=1624033046 user_id=53] Where did I mention Trump? By gubment I meant local city gubment. And again, while that fear is understandable, it's unfounded because citizenship is not an issue here and it is ignored by city hall and the (city, county and state) police.
  18. It does feel good to blame him, thanks. Seriously, man, that bigot spent his entire life and presidential term pretending racism isn't real and you think any Black distrust in the vaccine tied to him is unfounded. Cool story, bro.
  19. There's at least one other category - minorities and immigrants who have a DEEP distrust of the federal government, especially under it's most recent steward. I have a couple people in my circle who are Mexican immigrants and they feel like the last prez did everything in his power to erase them from America so they're not rushing to get stuck with his emergency vaccine. I wish they'd get jabbed, but, shit, I kinda get it, too.
  20. Huh, my friend had a different list that he pulled from Lahman. His had Randy Tate (1975, 41 ABs), Harry Parker (1974, 36 ABs), Ed Lynch (1982, 33 ABs) and Jeremy Heffner (2013, 32 ABs).
  21. D'oh! Shoulda known (and should show up here more). Thanks, batmags.
