  1. I'm not saying this guy from Milwaukee is Ralph Malph, but I'm hearing some people say that he probably definitely is.
  2. A thing I know about Matt Arnold that is that he is apparently the GM of the Brewers. #themoreyouknow
  3. It should probably be said that most of the "good" messages aren't much more than performative. Like, didn't the Mets introduce a big Chick-Fila advertisement on pride night? Like, fucking come on. But to go out of your way to do less than the bare minimum is pretty goddamn terrible and sadly on-brand for the state of Texas.
  4. 9. Cameron Maybin
  5. Putting bounties on people is all the rage nowadays.
  6. Fantastico.

Like Ceetar said, the more you hear about these guys, the worse it gets... and not in any more edifying, interesting ways. Was Sisk running a dogfight? I polished off eps 3 and 4 last night, and maybe there wasn't a lot of new info necessarily (what new info could there really be?), but the perspective of some of the guys now was pretty cool (kinda like Untold: Malice in the Palace, where hearing from Jermaine O'Neil and Stephen Jackson really landed well). Darryl seemed pretty introspective, and he and Doc seemed to understand a lot of the reasons they did the things they did. Better or worse, you can tell they've both sat through a lot of therapy. If anything, Dykstra was the guy you wanted more soundbites out of just because he says outrageous Dykstra shit, and did Mitchell become kind of endearing? Also, the soundtrack to this thing was a banger and I want it on blue and orange colored vinyl. As the current Mets shat the place up this week, I loved hiding in this thing instead.
  8. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: I thought this was to be a thread about Tito Santana, former WWF Intercontinental champion, who pretended to be from Mexico but was only of Mexican heritage. There was a weird article I saw the other day about whom MLB was "allowing" to wear 21 on this day, but it seemed to come from a false perspective that its governed everyday like 42. Would be news to Rich Hill I suppose Saw a tweet today that twoted the names of the Mets who would be wearing 21. I think it was the Puerto Rican players (including Quarter-rican Seth Lugo IIRC) and past and present Clemente winners/nominees.
  9. I'm so tiiiiiired of seeing McNeil go oh-for-four while slamming his bat against the ground all night. If JD isn't going to start against Jon Lester, when will the dude ever start
  10. Ceets going all Sean Spicer with “extreme weightlifting” lol
  11. Ceetar's loyal defense of Cano is one of the weirdest things on this forum to me. I agree that if the Mets have to pay for the guy regardless, it makes sense to see what they have, but they'd be wise to not bypass other second base options thinking that a 38-year old, twice busted cheater might be the guy at second, or even as a reliable DH. As the Mets undeniably have a character problem as an organization, I'd love it if they moved on from him regardless. BTW - his time raking in the Dominican League amounted to https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=cano--001rob6 games and 25 plate appearances.
  12. I mean, that's kinda funny.
  13. I'm not sure the Mets will be Javy's best offer, but I'm still real confident the Mets will try to bring him back (and I think they should).
  14. the speakeasy i mentioned claims it's open until 4. I'm very down with this theory, the timeline is pretty bang-on. This the one Ceets? --> https://www.theblindpigofwestchester.com/https://www.theblindpigofwestchester.com/
  15. have you shared those before, KC? I look forward to looking at those.
  16. Pros: -wily vet with history of success -fastball velo up 2 MPH from last year! -BABIP is low at .254 -good distraction! Cons: -ineligible for playoffs when the Mets win every game this month -K/9 down from 11.86 last year to 8.24 this year -xERA, FIP, xFIP and SIERA are all worse than his ERA -expensive audition for 2022
  17. Scott pleads not guilty. Assuming the 3 other charges were all things related to being asleep in a running car at an intersection?
  18. I think we'll learn 2 or more details, which seems like a lot. We know the party ended at 9, so I bet we'll learn 1) if he left when the party ended or he stayed later. He was picked up over 7 hours later, about 15 miles from Cohen's house, per the Athletic. If he stopped at other spots between leaving the party and arrest, I bet 2) we'll learn that, as well.
  19. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I don't see that Zack Scott is in the same category as Callaway and Porter, unless he has a documented history of DUI or DWI. Even if there's a record of him being an alcoholic (and I have no idea if he is or isn't) are we saying that alcoholics are ineligible for employment? Nah, I think he absolutely should be eligible for employment here or elsewhere, but this demonstrates some lousy judgement and will be the #1 reason he's not retained.
  20. Maybe he wasnt dozing it off. Maybe he fell asleep at a red light. With the motor running. The story did not say it was a RED light... Good guess anyway. Per The Athletic: Scott, 44, was discovered asleep at the wheel of his Toyota Highlander by a White Plains police officer at approximately 4:17 a.m., according to a statement from Capt. James Spencer of the White Plains police department. Scott's car was observed sitting at an intersection. He failed a field sobriety test at the scene and refused a chemical breath test, according to Spencer. https://theathletic.com/2803648/2021/09/01/with-mets-acting-gm-zack-scott-facing-dwi-charge-where-does-the-organization-go-from-here/?source=user_shared_articlehttps://theathletic.com/2803648/2021/09/01/with-mets-acting-gm-zack-scott-facing-dwi-charge-where-does-the-organization-go-from-here/?source=user_shared_article
  21. Jeez, Sandy sure can pick 'em. Time for a complete overhaul of the upper rungs.
  22. Gary talking about the bigger picture of the insular nature of social media and twitter, the constant, toxic vitriol that has become commonplace, and how players can easily form an us-against-the-world viewpoint when online or zoom interactions become the norm during covid times. I think an extension of that is selfish entitlement we see more and more of every day, anonymous people on the internet spouting vile shit they'd never say in public (but now, sadly, they do). The world sucks.
  23. The outrage here is hilarious to me. If you want to boo (I don't get it personally, but ok), then boo. But if players have an innocuous response to it, who gives a shit if you approve of it or not. Booing is meant to elicit a response. You got one. And ironically, you don't like how it feels. I think it's kinda funny myself.
