  1. I think JBJ would need a lot more ABs, but Almora or some other Juan Lagares type might be ok for this team, getting a start once a week and playing lots of late-inning CF.

Well his "kind and generous" is directed towards those who run the HoF. His issue is with those writers/gatekeepers whom he feels have slandered him or otherwise done him wrong. That's fine. He's still as much full of contradictions as he is full of shit, and is trying to act he doesn't want to be in the HOF because the HOF is about to reject him. His ego is as fragile as his idol's.
  3. Yeah I love how he starts off saying the Hall of Fame folks have been "kind and generous" and it ends with but your opinions don't matter and you don't know how to judge a player. Get fucked, Curt.

  5. ... and we have a new Director of Baseball Analytics!
  6. Schilling already throwing a tantrum. Yeah, fuck that guy.
  7. BAM.
  8. Edgy MD wrote: WAIT!! Jon Bon Jovi is in talks with the Mets?!! No, silly. Jackie Bradley, Jr. He's a runaway from the Red Sox. He comes much cheaper than Springer, whom the Mets seemed to shy away from because they didn't want to be livin on a player. When asked why he didn't want to re-sign with Boston, JBJ said "It's my life". ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  9. =Centerfield post_id=54854 time=1611697326 user_id=65] Yup. Is Realmuto more than twice as good as McCann? I guess we wait and see.
  10. Is JBJ just a cheaper, left-handed version of Lorenzo Cain nowadays? I'm thinking I might prefer JBJ to Cain and devote some $$ elsewhere (3B, pen, that asshole Bauer). There should be plenty of offense in the Mets outfield. They just need someone to reliably catch the ball in center.
  11. So McCann was 4 years at ~$10M per and Realmuto at 5 years and ~$23M per?

  13. Man, I was thinking about young Hader, tweeting stupid shit and hoping people give him a little leeway for growth and that. Then I looked up his old tweets and they're pretty fucked up. Whatever team employs him, I hope he's grown up and learned a few things.
  14. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Maybe, maybe not. (On Davis being included.) The Mets might want to keep Davis for depth. Jared said that he thinks it's important to have depth and redundancy. (Jared is gone, I've heard, but that may still be the organization's philosophy.) So maybe Davis for Bryant. Or it might be Familia or Betances or Matz. (I say this not having any idea what the Cubs' needs are. I just know that each of the three makes a lot less than Bryant will.) I read somewhere that said Jed Hoyer thought the Cubs had their longtime, championship core and it didn't really come to fruition, and they since couldn't sign guys like Bryant to extensions anyway, so they want to re-load with younger, cheaper dudes. I know it's not apples for apples, but they did take on the salary of an expiring contract in the Darvish trade (Zach Davies, ~$8M) along with 4 really young kids, so maybe some combo of JD Davis, Steven Matz and two barely legals gets it done. I wish we could convince them that Familia is AWESOME and they want him, too. I feel like Bryant's floor is JD Davis (and they play the same positions), so I'm kinda into it.
  15. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: The issue may also be the best deal we can make for JDD, if we're prepared to move him to improve still. There's online speculation he could go to Milwaukee in a deal for Cain, parhaps, guy on Twitter imagines, with familia and getting back pretend deGrom LHRP Josh "Black and gay" Hader. That's a spicy scoop!
  16. First, these rumors don't sound like anything but one dude guessing. That said, I almost like the idea of Bryant more than the other dudes. He's on the right side of 30, former MVP, could come cheap(er) than you'd expect with his recent injury history. He fills what I think is a real need (RH bat, competent fielder at 3B + OF). And he's only got a year left. A full return to the real Kris Bryant makes the Mets lineup insanely good and deep and they have to figure out if/how to re-sign him. And if he falls flat, he's probably JD Davis anyway and see ya.
  17. I'd just like to loudly reiterate that if Lindor were a FA, he would have been #1 on the list and I don't think it would've been particularly close. And #6 on MLBTR's list this year was Stroman, so Cookie woulda been too 10, too. Trade or FA, the Mets have acquired elite talent and still have room to improve. I wanted Springer, but missing on a 6-year deal for a 31-year old CF didn't keep me awake last night. At all. #LFGM and all that jazz.
  18. Yeah, I bet the Porter bullshit put the Mets in a bad spot, whether they were likely to get him or not. I do think if Springer was not gonna happen, I'd guess Bauer isn't either. I mean, they did add $34M in payroll last week with Lindor and Cookie. Instead of all on Springer, the Mets can fill a couple of holes with really good parts, though. I'd still love to see a Brad Hand Job and maybe now Justin Turner on a semi-expensive one-year deal isn't so crazy (that dude ain't gonna get 4 years, is he?).
  19. What level of vetting should an organization do for a position like this? Like, hiring a PI seems a little much, but one's step below a PI?
  20. I'm so glad this dude was fired before I woke up today.

  22. Well this thread was anti-climactic.
  23. Any of you bums need a hotshot third baseman? I've got super stud Nolan Arenado available at a painfully affordable $50 who would love to be on YOUR team next year. The trade offices of The Cicely Marmots are open for business. Enquire within!
  24. Yikes, that's a hefty deal. 3 years/$54M with a 4th year club option for $15M.
  25. Yeah, I voted Tom for the same reasons. It captures a recent moment in time really well for a cover that is paying tribute to another era. Years from now when families are strolling hand-in-hand through the halls in Stockholm and they see the Dow and COVID headlines next to Tom, they'll be instantly transported back to shitty 2020 thanks to this cover.
