The thing this signals to me most, worrisome or not, is a commitment to making Lindor as comfortable as possible, so we get the Lindor we know exists for the next 9+ years. Is that worth Pete Crow-Armstrong? If it works, then most likely yes. And it's not like Báez is Mike Glavine or anything, he's a very good, in-his-prime player and I'd bet a round of expensive beers at Citi Field they extend or re-sign him. Is he a very good, in-his-prime player in a way that Jeff McNeil distinctly ain't? Because I'm having trouble making this add up with the decreased playing time for Jeff, who is the team's most reliable hitter right now, and has a lifetime .312 batting average and .860 OPS. The glove can speak for itself, but those are numbers that Javy Baez has rarely ever sniffed, much less sustained over a career. Ideally, the playing time he gains gets taken from multiple people. But I'd seriously have guessed that a new shortstop was one of the last things the team needed. I still think Javy is kind of a therapy blanket for Lindor, but he's still an elite defender and right-handed power bat, and the team got way deeper offensively and defensively before a maybe playoff run. McNeil will still get reps at second and may platoon at third some when JD comes back, but he hasn't done much damage against lefties this year so I can't blame the Mets much for making this move.

  4. That'd be great, KC. I like pops. Lemme know if ya do.
  5. Dancing before one's at bat apparently has no positive effect. Double play, side retired. :'-(
  6. Two on and Pete is dancing in the on-deck circle. Come on, boys.
  7. Keith saw it right and then did some epic Keith grumbling.

  9. you are a tough customer, Ceets
  10. Hill gives the rotation a mostly able-bodied addition, but I'm not convinced we should be done with the rotation even? -JdG (hurty) -Walker -Stro -Hill (healthy for the moment but always hurty) -Megill -Cookie (hoping for the best but hurty) -Syndy (expecting nothing) -other dudes we're afraid of What else? Get help for Diaz? Is everyone ok with third base as-is? Signed, Anxious in Albuquerque

Fits Rays I'm cool with it. Doesn't seem an exorbitant fee to get a 41-year old pitcher who's kinda sucked the last coupla months. We desperately needed a Rich Hill and that it turns out to be the actual Rich Hill is good by me.
  12. I'm a little surprised the first place Rays are trading a starting pitcher, but those guys do shit differently anyway. I like the trade so far.
  13. I was on "Hill, yeah" or "This is our Hill! And these are our Beans!"
  14. Hill, yeah.
  15. Who knows what the unis will actually look like, but I hope there's more of a new identity with the new brand. But hey, it's not Indians any more!
  16. =metsmarathon post_id=72317 time=1627054217 user_id=83] boy, they could've been a little more evocative of the winged headdresses on those guardians, and maybe pull in some sort of art deco vibe on the wordmark, no? instead there's this weird cheap angular bullshit that makes no sense. and doesn't even look modern. can't wait for it to get ripped to shreds by uniwatch!

  18. He's "only" 37 and very well rested. Certainly doesn't hurt to check him out, especially given the state of our pitching depth.
  19. 1) That's awful 2) The cupboard's even thinner now. Send help.
  20. One high school kid in the second round. here's the rundown: https://www.mlb.com/draft/tracker/2021/all/team/metshttps://www.mlb.com/draft/tracker/2021/all/team/mets
  21. Round 20 The Mets go back to Fairfield to get their last guy, Justin Guerrera, a 5'9" 185 lb junior shortstop. How many HS kids did they take? 1? 2? Welp, that's all, folks. https://dbukjj6eu5tsf.cloudfront.net/sidearm.sites/fairfielduni.sidearmsports.com/images/2021/3/20/guerrera_swing.jpg>
  22. Round 19 It's like the end of a fantasy draft and the Mets realize they still need a catcher. Enter Drake Osborn from the Univ of Louisiana - Lafayette. 5'10" 190 lbs and lead-off hitter for your Ragin' Cajuns. https://bloximages.newyork1.vip.townnews.com/theadvocate.com/content/tncms/assets/v3/editorial/1/ca/1cab6239-7698-59a4-b11c-b1c9cacfe487/60567521b0062.image.jpg?resize=1200%2C960>
  23. Round 18 Kolby Kubichek. His middle name thankfully doesn't start with a "K". 6'0" 180 lbs junior out of Texas. 25. Round 17 Nick Zwack - 6'3" 230 lbs lefty senior out of Xavier, OH. "I noticed there was only one set of footprints, Nick. Why did you bail on me, bro?" "I did not bail on you, bro.
